In Cassine village at least 2 lots sold this summer for around $200 to $250k.
Two others had sold earlier in the year. These lot are within 1/4 mile of the beach and an easy walk to the public access. There are only 2 other lots for sale in there now.

In the Preserve of Grayton Beach there were 2 lots for sale for $175k and $169k which is the lowest price since the initial release. I also notice that those lots are no longer listed for sale-sold?

hmm-the bottom feeder bargain hunters have been busy.

How can an access go from public to private?

If you go back to one of the Doodle Harris threads, you can find more info on the background. [ame="http://www.sowal.com/bb/showpost.php?p=112170&postcount=38"]SoWal Beaches Forum - View Single Post - Doodle Harris wants to change zoning; Increase densities in Old Seagrove[/ame] Interesting to read Doodle's (aka sas96) reply. From what I understand, somehow proper paperwork was not properly filed at the time the access was built. Even thought the developers and the folks who were involved in the deeding of the property testified their intent, the bottom line is the county dropped the ball many years ago. The current homeowners must have checked into it, filed a petition with the court and the battle went on for several years. You can find all the records on the Walton County court documents web site, just type in "Sugar Cliffs". The county maintained the access for many years, even rebuilding it after one of the hurricanes (can't remember the name). After the second hurricane hit and demolished the walkway, the case was already filed so the county did not repair the access, smartly choosing to wait until a court decision.

Thanks for the info. It really stinks for the majority of people who can't or aren't willing to pay for beachfront neighborhoods.
