I think we're having leftovers, but I'd like to see what you're having. :D

I unrolled the Swiss Cake Rolls too. Sometimes I'd freeze them, and kind of gnaw around the roll until I hit the cream center.

Tonight's dinner- roast chicken, garlic bread. Maybe some greek yogurt with preserves or honey if we're still feeling hungry.

I don't have a clue what we're having tonight. I was promised dinner out, but my date is mowing and edging--looks like it ain't gonna happen.

Grandpa is Ashamed (Ogden Nash)
A child need not be very clever
To learn that "Later, dear" means "Never."

Tonight, I grilled fresh King Mackeral from the Gulf, Zucchini, Eggplant, Sweet Onions, and Mushrooms. Cleaned the plates!

:clap:that Ogden was pretty clever himself! Your veggies sound wonderful.
I ended up with a pretty good salad from Market Street. I have decided that fresh carrots really are pretty good, that pumpkin seeds are better than pretty good, and that I CAN survive without blue cheese dressing.

I love to eat meat, but I swear by grilled veggies. My mom and grandmas cooked all the squash and zucchini in casseroles when I was a kid, and I still dislike them, but throw some on the grill and I will eat my veggies, with rapid speed.

You are right about Ogden. He is one of my favorite poets.

Totally agree about the grilled veggies. Zucchini is on my list of dislikes (it squeaks when you eat it), but if it's grilled, I can tolerate it. Love yellow squash, eggplant and asparagus grilled. YUM.

Also love roasted veggies. I guess they taste sweeter. :idontno:

Definitely. When I'm too lazy to grill, I like to roast 'em. Again, the asparagus is so wonderful roasted.

Good thing you did..they're hard to come by these days.
Love BLT's too. One of life's pleasures for sure. Wasn't there a thread about "What I learned from a BLT" some time back?

I love grits & eat them regularly, but I've never understood the appeal of hominy. My parents made us  eat it and it always tasted like chunks of candle wax. It was god-awful.

Rock and roll. The addition of lettuce to the B and the T makes an inferior sandwich...I like your style.

Well, I've had posole. My sister lives in New Mexico. THAT'S good stuff! I'm thinking of the hominy from my childhood. That white chunky stuff from a can.

We haven't been cooking much lately. Other priorities.
We did Ruby Tuesday's salad bar tonight.
Last night daughter made turkey sandwiches with wheat bread, mustard, low-fat cheese, lettuce, tomatoes, red onions, and boiled egg slices ... her German BF loves that.
Night before was low-fat burgers, boiled corn, and a salad.
Tuesday was grilled chicken marinated in chipotle Tabasco and lime juice with black beans and brown rice.
Monday was Doc Chey's. Peace, love, and noodles.

BTW hominy was a staple at our house. Many evenings in the cooler months Mom would fry Smithfield ham with red-eye gravy, hominy, and applesauce. I love the way hominy feels in my mouth. Haven't had it since Daddy died when I was a college freshman.

I not a casserole person either! I:wub:grilled veggies. I also like zucchini lightly coated in flour and fried then sprinkled with parmesan cheese. If I don't grill the yellow squash,I par-bowl it then put in my cast iron skellet(sp?) wotj onions, butter dash of flour.
