Keep Walton County Beautiful (KWCB), a local affiliate of Keep America Beautiful, is dedicated to preserving Walton County’s natural environment.

Preserving our environment is part of our community mission here at SoWal, so we’re happy to report that KWCB hosted countywide cleanup events on Saturday, Sept. 19, in support of International Coastal Cleanup (ICC) Day. The Coastal Conservancy started International Coastal Cleanup more than 35 years ago to collect and document litter across coastal communities.

Nearly 200 volunteers gathered to support KWCB’s first Authentic Walton cleanup event at Grady Brown Park in Freeport as well as multiple beach cleanup sites, including:

150 bags of trash were collected, totaling 178.5 pounds of litter removed from across Walton County, representing a 72% increase over last year. Volunteers received cleanup supplies as well as giveaway items including T-shirts, belt bags, bracelets and stickers.

Keep Walton County Beautiful hosts cleanup events across Walton County to engage the community while raising awareness about the importance of environmental conservation. Since its inception in 2024, KWCB has hosted eight cleanup events, in addition to three consecutive ICC events. Please visit keepwaltoncountybeautiful.org to learn more.
