According to the Daily News, the new proposal is for 13 units instead of 24, and a smaller footprint that won't take out the dune.
"Commissioners did not vote on Angelos, but gave the developer time to work out some finer details of the project.
The county will consider Angelos on Sept. 25 at the courthouse in DeFuniak Springs. "

Thanks for the info!

Do any of you know exactly what the re-worked Angelos proposal will be? As I recall, the original proposal was for 24 units, partially on the dunes. We will be at the meeting, opposing another high-density, beachfront development.
Oh, wow. You read my mind. I was just typing while you answered my question, beachmouse.

If this is true and they had density for 24 units but are only asking for slightly more than half of that, does anyone think there is a reason that it shouldn't pass. I don't care either way, just curious.

As an owner at Sugar Dunes, we have ben given the drawings. It looks pretty good farther away from the beach and with access on the western side by one walk over. It looks like they leave a lot of the dunes in place. I am not opposed based on this drawing.

Did it pass?

Who cares what's to the left if it meets the density requirements in our comp plan?

At last week's BCC meeting the purchase of a $10 million chunk of property was discussed. This is the site of Angelo's, which the developer now apparently wants to sell to the county.

Can you believe that the County got only one appraisal for the property?

What and where is Angelos?

What and where is Angelos?A proposed high-density development on the dunes at the intersection of San Roy Road and Beachside Drive (just east of Eastern Lake).

Does anyone have a tax id number on this property so I can figure out just where it is?

Looks like a great piece of land. But $10 million is certainly a tidy sum for the BCC to be considering, with the unknown of the tax amendment and the economy. Plus taking $6 million off the tax rolls is $52K in income we lose. If it is big enough though and on the water they could put in a big boat launch operation there.

I believe I heard something at the BCC meeting about trying to get grant money to purchase it as preserve, or something along those lines. Don't quote me on that. It should be in the minutes, when they finally get around to posting them.

I think those are some false hopes. I understand the State preservation fund is about empty and they are looking at a mininimum 2 billion dollar shortfall this year. I doubt there are going to be many grants for this sort of thing.

It is incompatible with the neighborhood to the west based on density, style, and scale.Isn't there a condo next door to the east?

Isn't there a condo next door to the east? They were built prior to the current land development code.
