EL MERCADITO:welcome:

Looking for a place just to eat your favorites but only authentic Tacos, Burritos, Tamales and the best pressed and hot Cuban sandwich, no need to look more??..is here en Santa Rosa Beach right next to the U.S. Post Office on U.S. Hwy 98W. El Mercadito is a family owned Convenience Store and Latin Deli with a lunch counter in the back that serves a variety of hot sub sandwiches to eat in the store or to take out. The convenience store has a great variety of cold drinks and packaged snacks, spices, teas, salsas and processed foods from Central and South America. The environment is always friendly and festive with a touch of Latino roots, although the place is not a restaurant kind of place it works very similar to a latinoamerica style luncheon that is you get your drink from the cooler and and wait to be called to get your food from the counter (self service) then seat and enjoy your meal, sometimes expect to wait 5 minutes at the most and by the way is a good place to practice or improve your Spanish.
New to the menu ?Great Quesadillas? stuffed with shredded beef, shredded chicken or carnitas asadas.
Thanks!
Everyone is welcome

If you have not been by El mercadito for authentic mexican tacos, tamales or the best Cuban sandwich you will find anywhere then you my friend are missing out! The salsa verde is so flavorful and so fresh that I think it could cure anything. This is a great place!

We tried El Mercadito for lunch yesterday. Hubby has been to Mexico many times on business, and he says their food is the real deal. He had a beef burrito and a chicken taco, and I had a chicken quesadilla. It all tasted wonderful! Loved the green salsa. We'll definitely be back.

OOPS! When we were at El Mercadito for lunch one day last week, we were talking to the owner about Mexico. She very politely educated us -- they serve Central American and Latin food, not Mexican food. For example, they serve tamales wrapped in banana leaves (I believe that's Guatemalan style) as well as wrapped in corn husks.

We enjoyed lunch BTW.

Nothing like lunch and an educational opportunity.
