let's share some good stuff. spring time usually means parties and get togethers. surely we all need some new recipes to try! here is one I got from a good friend today, and it looks pretty yummy.

I'm such a gorgonzola ho that I would probably use this instead of blue cheese. but I already have a gorgonzola sauce that I love to use for penne or as a dip, so maybe I will try this one with the blue.:biggrin: enjoy.

Warm Blue Cheese Dip with Garlic and Bacon
Prep Time: 30 Minutes (how slow do these people work?)
Cook Time: 30 Minutes (not as brown, but you can stick it in the microwave)
Ready In: 1 Hour
Yields: 14 servings

INGREDIENTS:

7 slices bacon, crumbled (I?ve made it with real bacon bits, but real, crisp bacon is mo? better. The microwave, ready to heat and eat is just fine, plus you don?t spatter up the stove.)

2 cloves garlic, peeled and minced (I?ve used prepared stuff from a jar, as well as garlic powder)

2 (8 ounce) packages cream cheese, softened

1/3 cup half-and-half (Milk works fine)

4 ounces blue cheese, crumbled (Or more...)

2 tablespoons chopped fresh chives (dried works too)

3 tablespoons (or more), toasted, chopped pecans

DIRECTIONS:

1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
2. Cook bacon to crisp. If using fresh garlic, cook till soft. (see why I use the prepared stuff?)
3. Place cream cheese and half-and-half in a medium bowl. Beat with an electric mixer or by hand until blended. Stir in bacon, garlic, blue cheese, pecans and chives. Transfer mixture to a 1 quart baking dish.
4. Bake covered in the preheated oven 15 minutes, or until golden and bubbly.

The original recipe said it?s great with vegetables. HA!
I like it on Wheat Thins ? or just a spoon!

You know, a little scoop on top of a nice grilled steak would be fierce!

1-2 teaspoon fresh minced garlic (or to taste)
black pepper, to taste (optional)

3 In a bowl combine the mayo, cream cheese, Parmesan cheese and garlic together until well combined and smooth.

5 transfer to the baking dish.
6 Bake for about 40-45 minutes or until the top is lightly browned.

Here's ONE of my indulgent dip recipes. It is to die for imo.

Hot Creamy Sausage Dip

1 lb Bob Evans zesty hot roll sausage
5 Green onions - chopped, divided
1 cup Sour cream
1/2 cup Mayonnaise
1/4 cup Grated parmesan cheese
1 tiny jar Chopped pimientos - drained

Recipe Instructions
Preheat oven to 350F.
In large skillet over medium heat, brown and crumble sausage until no longer pink. Remove from heat, drain off drippings and add all remaining ingredients except one green onion. Pour into one quart baking dish.
Bake 20-25 minutes until bubbly.
Garnish with remaining green onion. Keep warm, and serve with Melba toast, sesame or wheat crackers.
Refrigerate leftovers. Can be reheated for later serving.

It really does not remind of onion dip because it is baked, it is very yummy. I mean you definitely taste the onion but the baking makes it very thick, almost like a spread.

You havin' a par-tay r what?!? If so, invite Uncle Timmy's mom and request her humus with the roasted pine nuts. Obviously, Punzy cannot partake. Let me know when and where and I can be there in less than 6 hours. ;-)

Here's a variation on the tried & true Rotel dip.

2 8 oz packages of cream cheese (not low-fat!!)
1 can Rotel tomatoes & chilies
1 pound sauage, browned (use the hot if you really like spicy stuff)

Melt the cream cheese, add Rotel and sausage. Serve with some sort of scoop chip (Fritos, Doritos, etc). You want to get maximum dip to chip ratio.

Tootsie, after my father becomes a Catholic on Easter, my parents are treating us to a feast at the Ritz Carlton in Naples. The chef e-mailed my mother the menu (I pasted it, not very well, but you get the gist). There are tons of ideas here! I promise I will sample everything and let you know what makes the best party food.:biggrin:

you forgot to add: secretly swipe dip from your hostess, put the entire bowl in your big ass purse and haul it home so you can eat it all yourself. this is so good. my bil makes it every time we get together and you can bet its always a hit.

and MERMY! that menu is so beautiful. what a feast you shall have as you celebrate your dad. I hope you take some pix of your Dad on his happy day. and of course your report due to the board.

Oh, Tootsie, I will have lots to say. Not only is my father converting but all my siblings will be there as well. I haven't a doubt I will have more fodder for posting than anyone rightfully should. :rolling:

If anything tastes especially good maybe I could wheedle the recipe out of the chef. Ya think?

I have to say that our very own Beach Bummett and Lisa at the Beach made - yes made- a wonderful crab and cream cheese hot appetizer.

Ok, now that you have picked yourself up from the floor from disbelief and shock I am telling you that it is true. :D

BB or LATB please post that wonderful app as it was to die for.

I think I could write a book on this subject alone.... I have so many recipes...My ex & I used to have a Christmas party every year...I would make about 40 different appetizers....:yikes: I would usually start prep about a month early.
Toots...Vic & I loved this dip...and it would be good with toasted walnuts as well...I love blue cheese & walnuts. I love gorgonzola, too...
