Why is Restaurant Charging for Ice Water

Why is a restaurant in Blue Mountain Beach charging for ice water that is being kept in a large plastic cooler? It’s not a lot of money..90 cents..but it’s the principle of the matter! Also many restaurants along 30A are tacking on an additional 4% fee if you use a credit card! A year ago no one wanted to accept cash so my advice to folks is.. carry cash and have your own bottle of water

Have you inquired with the manager or owner of said establishment?

Was it bottled water? If so it carries associated costs. If not please tell us how it was packaged. I assume tap water was available if asked for.

Did you provide the cup and then wash it when you were done?

Wouldn’t have surprised me if they ask me to do that… You know.. I live here..I support the businesses along 30A. A lot of the food in these restaurants is pretty mediocre but they still have to squeeze every dime out of us....not the only game in town! Some new guys building restaurants in Blue Mountain Beach!

Probably 98% of revenue come from tourists who aren't paying attention and/or don't care about prices.

In defense of our local restaurants I'd say our mediocre is a ton better than a typical southern town. High prices and crowds can bring down a rating for sure though.

Probably referring to Cowgirl Kitchen relocation.

Everything else in that space has failed, so maybe capturing that water fee will be the key to survival.

That's awesome! Do you know who, where, and when? We know the rumors about Cowgirl, but these are new to us.

No no no. You don't get to post stupid and then clutch pearls.

You haven't asked the question in an appropriate manner to someone with the authority to answer, you came in a public forum to blast a local business.

Before you question me why don't you post under your real name?

They are being obstinate.

Mimo's will be opening in the new commercial space in front of Blue Mountain Beach Village. Not sure about the Thai, perhaps our little water detective can reveal that information.

I have zero problem paying a small amount for a glass of ice water served to me with a meal. With good service.

Thai place is supposed to be going on the westernmost parcel, Or that was the intention before covid when the piece was sold. That whole little development hit the ground running and then for some reason has come to an apparent standstill.

I've heard that a "Thai deli/market" will be opening in that westernmost parcel. Will only be open during the day. A title company is going in that building as well. I heard this in a HOA Zoom meeting. I'm sorry I don't have more specific info.
