Russell Brand has been found guilty of rape and sexual assault.

The 51-year-old comedian and actor was convicted of one charge of rape and three of sexual assault after a trial at Southwark Crown Court.

Brand, who was accompanied to court by his wife, Laura Gallacher, was remanded in custody and is expected to face a lengthy custodial sentence.

It can now be reported that prosecutors are considering whether to bring two further rape charges against Brand.

Scotland Yard said an investigation into complaints made by two separate women was “ongoing,” and files had been sent to the Crown Prosecution Service.
