If you have medical insurance ProHealth may not be a good choice to get a blood draw.l lab test.

They require pre payment which typically costs around $500 for a CBC.

When you file the receipt with your insurance the amount approved will be approximately $100 with no copay.

If you would have gone to Sacred Heart for the blood test they would have accepted the insurance payment and you have no out of pocket.

Since you had to prepay at Pro Health you will have to go back to ProHealth to get a refund.

The local ProHealth office will tell you that they can not help you and will only give an email - no phone number- of the corporate office. Then you have to wait and hope to get reimbursed- good luck.

This only applies if they are In-network, otherwise they don't owe you a refund.
Matt is correct, they do not have to refund the difference.

People insured would be out hundreds of dollars thus would avoid going to ProHealth .

That is too bad since the Prohealth location is more convenient for many .

ProHealth is designed for people who are uninsured, underinsured, or have a high deductible or "catastrophic" insurance policy. There are not many options for people who can't afford insurance or as mentioned, are underinsured or have high deductibles. It has been voted Best Walk-in Clinic in Northwest Florida for nearly a decade and used by many. They are very professional and the use of 'aka' in the title of this thread is:dunno: (It would be nice if a Quest of LabCorp were closer for those of us with insurance.)

CORRECTION/CLARIFICATION
Prohealth offers much cheaper blood tests than most labs for the uninsured. It is also well managed with short wait times. The location is more convenient than other facilities.

Unfortunately, if you have insurance you maybe better off going to a lab that takes your insurance.

The problem is that when you go to Prohealth you have to prepay and then file claim with your insurance.

Chances are that your insurance will only value the service at a fraction of what you prepaid. For example if you prepaid $500 for a battery of blood tests the insurance company may only reimburse you $100 with no copay; your out of pocket may have been zero.

If you had gone to a lab that takes insurance chances are you would not be responsible to pay the $400 difference. ProHealth will not refund the difference, and you would have over paid by $400.

That's a really good reason to contact your insurance first to determine their allowances for services, especially if you are going somewhere out of network.

Matt- correction - upon further investigation - the $500 is not for a basic CBC - it is for a broad spectrum of blood and urine tests.

OP has insurance PWMC primary mission is uninsured and underinsured. I don't think it's right or moral for people with insurance and means to utilize those charitable services.
