Seaside Dune Restoration Project Underway

In an effort to mitigate storm effects and maintain its beaches in the best possible condition, Seaside is restoring and re-nourishing its coastal sand dunes.

This approach will further develop Seaside’s long-term preservation and resiliency strategy to protect the landscape and maintain the native ecosystems. Its implementation will provide natural, enduring and future protection with no adverse effect to adjacent coastal areas.

Seaside Post Office Moving to Back of Seaside Square

Seaside is excited to announce the beginning of a new Post Office Plaza. It is part of the vision of Seaside founders, Robert and Daryl Davis.

“The plaza is the first project leading to the future construction of the Krier Tower,” said George Calvi, Seaside Director of Development, “and should take about six months to complete.”

Located at the southern end of Seaside Avenue, the plaza will house the Seaside Post Office as well as seven new public restrooms and additional bike parking.

Harvest Wine & Food Festival at WaterColor Nov 2-5

This November, a new wine and food festival is coming to the South Walton area. Produced by Destin Charity Wine Auction Foundation (DCWAF), Harvest Wine & Food Festival is poised to be one of the Southeast’s premier fall events and will provide patrons the opportunity to sip and savor some of the world’s finest wine and culinary selections while enjoying the iconic beach town of WaterColor. Tickets available online at www.dcwaf.org/tickets. How to be a Fourth of July SoWal Beach Hero

As people make plans to go to the beach for the Independence Day holiday, the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) is reminding the public to help protect beach-nesting shorebirds and sea turtles by giving them space and keeping personal fireworks off the beach. Please respect shorebird and sea turtle areas that are posted to protect these vulnerable species, but remember not all nests are posted.
