Walk Her Way at Rosemary Beach for Shelter House June 7

Get ready to strut your favorite high heels at Walk Her Way in Rosemary Beach on Friday, June 7at 6 p.m.! Men, women and children of all ages will step out for the second annual one mile walk to raise awareness of domestic violence.

Yes, you heard it right! The guys will be dressing for the occasion again this year, making the event all the more meaningful, and truly fun at the same time. Sign up, find the perfect shoe and walk for a good cause!

Grand Opening Native Plant Demonstration Garden & Trail June 21

Come out on the first day of summer, June 21 at 4 p.m., for the Grand Opening of the Native Plant Demonstration Garden and Trail. The event takes place at the South Walton Center of Northwest Florida State College, located at 109 Greenway Trail in Santa Rosa Beach. Both the Walton Area and Destin Area Chambers of Commerce will host a ribbon cutting to open the garden and trail. Immediately following, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., the Cultural Arts Alliance will host a reception with wine and appetizers to open the annual A+ Art Show.

Kid’s Camp Showtime with Seaside Repertory Theatre June 18 - August 9

Do you have creative kids that have a love of theater and improv? Sign them up for Seaside Repertory Theatre’s Camp Showtime. Your kids will learn the basics of storytelling, theatre, team building, improvisation and performance skills, and you can enjoy watching their self confidence and self esteem improve while they discover their own creativity.
 

Camp Showtime will offer daily sessions on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.  Ages eight and older are welcome for $30 per day or $75 per week and slots are limited, so sign up soon.
 

Summer Season at Seaside Repertory Theatre Fun for Everyone!

The new summer season of the Seaside Repertory Theatre offers non-stop entertainment and family fun all summer long. The REP’s actors perform main stage productions and children’s theater on various stages in Seaside and all around SoWal, starting Memorial Day and running through August 19. Local residents and area visitors are invited to enjoy great entertainment that will spark the imagination no matter the age.

Sandestin Beach Bicycle Tour May 17-19 Benefits Alaqua Animal Refuge

Sandestin Golf and Beach Resort on Florida’s Emerald Coast will be the backdrop for The Sandestin Beach Bicycle Tour May 17-19 as hundreds of cyclists venture through Northwest Florida. The weekend bicycle event is designed for all road cyclists. Participants will get an opportunity to soak in a scenic bike ride alongside pristine beaches including a rest stop at Grayt Coffee House in Grayton Beach and also enjoy post-ride activities and mechanical support. Rides are led by experienced cyclist Robin Wilkes of Robin's Bikes and Fitness.

Sacred Heart and Forrest Williams Band Team Up to Benefit the Arts

Sacred Heart Hospital on the Emerald Coast and the Forrest Williams Band are teaming up for a great concert on Friday, September 20 at 6 p.m. Save the date for the Backyard Boogie for the Arts featuring the Forrest Williams Band & Friends in Santa Rosa Beach. Proceeds from the event will benefit Sacred Heart Hospital on the Emerald Coast’s Arts in Medicine program.

Destin Charity Wine Auction Foundation Achieves Record Results for 2013

The Destin Charity Wine Auction Foundation (DCWAF) today announced that revenues from the 2013 live and silent auctions are $1,323,000, a 16 percent increase from last year’s results of $1,142,000, maintaining DCWAF as the top charity fundraising event in Northwest Florida. The 2013 results continued the trend of revenue growth every year since the first auction in 2006. The 2012 auction marked the first year the Destin Charity Wine Auction was listed in the "Top Ten Charity Wine Auctions in the U.S." by Wine Spectator Magazine.

Walton County School District & Special Olympics Florida - Walton County Host Field Day May 20

In the spirit of cooperation, the Walton County School District and Special Olympics of Florida - Walton County, is hosting a Field Day event Monday, May 20 from 10:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., at the Emerald Coast Middle School located at 4019 U.S. Highway 98. The event will allow Walton County school students to experience the benefits of Special Olympics sports training and competition.

We fulfill our commitment by working within four main program areas: monitoring, restoration, education, and research. This means we are constantly studying, learning, and sharing information about Choctawhatchee Bay, Choctawhatchee River, and Walton County’s coastal dune lakes.
