Sip for Sustainability Benefits E.O. Wilson Biophilia Center

April 2, 2024 by Abby Eller

The E.O Wilson Biophilia Center will benefit from the Sip for Sustainability initiative this Earth Day in an effort to preserve our beautiful Florida ecosystem.

Half Shell Vodka, the first U.S. spirit to come in a 94% recycled cardboard bottle (which uses six times less carbon than a glass bottle), will donate a portion of proceeds from every bottle sold at participating liquor stores. From April 1st to April 22nd, the program will aid a longleaf pine nature preserve in Destin. With less than 2% of the original longleaf pine ecosystem remaining intact today, organizations like the E.O. Wilson Biophilia Center, play a crucial role in preserving our local ecosystems. Participating Stores: Kwiker Liquor - Carillon Beach, Shunk Gulley Wine & Liquor, Driftwood Wine & Spirits, Beach Liquors Panama City Beach, Beach Liquors Destin, Cork & Barrel, and Distillery 98.

Now more than ever, it is important that we double down on longleaf restoration. A changing climate means more hurricanes and other strong storms. The dual threats of climate change and biodiversity loss are impacting both people and nature on a large scale. With a changing climate comes periods of drought and accompanying wildfires. Nature can play a role in making the region more resilient to these impacts. Longleaf pine thrives in harsh variable climates and provides habitat for many threatened and endangered species—making it the perfect tree for our time.
