Old Florida Fish House Serves Succulent Seafood, Steaks, And Sushi on the Lake

July 16, 2018 by Audrey Johnson

Old Florida Fish House has been a local's favorite for more than a decade, and it's easy to see why.

The restaurant has gorgeous views of Eastern Lake with a tasty and diverse menu, live music, dancing, and late-night shenanigans. There's also Sushi! What’s not to love?

Old doors and windows hang as art objects in the different dining areas and private dining room, with knobs that remind me of my childhood home. (It was built in the 1940’s and had original porcelain door knobs and hardwoods.) Tongue and groove walls are whitewashed, allowing vintage fishing and beach photos to pop while metal sconces light the room. Few places nowadays have such an ability to ground you in coziness of Old Florida.

While the restaurant may look new, some things never change. Here, we break down all the happenings at Old Florida Fish House, centered around great service, great food, great fun, and great views. Enjoy!

Lunch on The Porch at Old Florida Fish House is a SoWal Favorite. The Porch is set up like a Florida room, glassed in with sweeping views of Eastern Lake. There’s also a full bar, colorful bartenders, and large screens for sports lovers. The lunch menu is equally as wonderful as the atmosphere. Wedge salads are usually nothing to brag about, but Old Florida style they become planets of their own, complete with fresh grilled shrimp and covered in bacon. Fried oysters and fried green tomatoes make for happy apps, and their tuna dip won Best on the Emerald Coast. Keep in mind lunch is served only on The Porch. However, you can eat dinner and sushi on the Porch starting at 5.

With seating for over 300 and private rooms available, Old Florida Fish House welcomes groups of all sizes and is the perfect celebration venue from birthday parties to weddings. The menu ranges from seriously the best sushi to Crispy Brussels Sprouts that are seriously having a moment. Steaks, sushi and pasta are all fair game, and it just wouldn’t be a proper fish house without seafood platters. The best part about the menu-what you see is what you get. Go online and there’s a photo for every. single. dish. And did we mention the views?

The Sushi Bar is the star of the show at Old Florida Fish House. Longtime locals claim it’s the best. So good, in fact, that it could be hard to get a beloved roll without an hour wait in summers past. Something had to be done, so the restaurant implemented a shorter sushi menu to cut down wait times. Problem solved. Now everyone can roll to the tune of fresh local fish. Beat the heat with the Summer Summer roll, crunchy yellowtail topped with salmon, lemon and avocado. Spice things up with the Miami Heat, crunchy tuna with bacon, topped with avocado, jalapeno and cream cheese. Or blow it out of the water with TNT, tuna, fried tempura, green onions and spicy sauce inside topped with even more tuna, avocado and chili paste. Yes Sir. (That’s a roll too, by the way.)
