Get Fit This Fall in SoWal

The holidays are fast approaching and that means tons of celebrations and lots of tempting comfort foods. (Butter anyone?) We are lucky to have superb weather here in SoWal for much of the year, and being active is just a way of life. But if you're looking to keep that beach bod throughout the holiday season and want to mix it up with a new routine, here's our latest SoWal List with a few excellent ways to move and groove in South Walton.
Fit Your Way is located next to the Santa Rosa Beach Publix on Highway 98. It is a bright and inviting space with a wide variety of classes to choose from. They offer Zumba - a music-driven cardio workout sure to burn tons of calories. Another unique fitness class offered at Fit Your Way is Sur La Barre. This class is based in ballet, but also incorporates fitness moves like squats. This is a great class for all levels of dancers who want to challenge their body in a new way.
Fit Your Way is also excited to announce a new certification called Plate by Zumba. This is a clean eating system and 12 week course. Fit Your Way has partnered with Dr. Chavers of the Foundations Medical Center and will launch with a free orientation workshop on Sunday, October 25. For more information call Marcia at 850.329.5302.
YOLO Board Adventures at the Watercolor Boat House offers folks the opportunity to learn to Stand-Up Paddleboard. Paddleboarding is an easy to learn, adaptable activity and perfect for all ages. The low impact activity is suitable for anyone wanting the opportunity to explore nature’s beauty from a new point of view. Laura Bailey Yoga is located at the beautifully serene East of Eden Retreat and Spa in Point Washington. Laura Bailey has been practicing yoga since she was 21 years old and believes yoga benefits both one’s mental and physical health. Her classes are challenging but she encourages everyone from beginners to seasoned yogis to attend. Laura emphasizes, “Just do what you can. Pure Barre in WaterColor is part of the largest, most established barre franchise in the nation. Pure Barre is a total body workout that utilizes the ballet barre to perform small, isometric movements. These movements burn fat, sculpt muscles and help create lean physiques. Hit SoWal Trails and take advantage of this fall weather and lower humidity to train for all the great local runs coming up. October 24 is the Inaugural South Walton Run/SUP Series combining a 2 mile beach run with a 2 mile paddleboard race across Western Lake. The Amavida Solstice Run on Dec 21 is a 40 mile ultra run starting at sunrise and continuing until sunset. Shelter House’s Luminaria Run on Saturday December 5 starts at dusk at 4:30pm, and the Seaside Half Marathon & 5K on February 26 will be here before we know it, too.
