Details
Walton County Coastal Library welcomes Escape to Create Artist in Residence awarded filmmaker Mark Spano on Tuesday, Jan 16 at 11am. Spano will screen his documentary on Sicily entitled Sicily: Land of Love and Strife. The film explores Sicily’s cultural and historic relevance as “the most (frequently) invaded place on the planet.” The island’s story rivals both Greece and Egypt as a primary source for Western ideas. Few of Europe's more popularized regions compare to Sicily for a story of authentic human struggle, for the presence of cultural icons, and for the significance of so many important historical sites.
Sicily: Land of Love and Strife explores history, family, religion, arts and culture and their effects on the people of Sicily.
Light sandwiches and antipasti served. Reservations are recommended by calling Linda at the library. (850) 267-2809.
South Walton Coastal Branch Library hosts year round events, lectures, children's story time, chess, tai chi, meditation, art, book club and other programs open to the community. Stop in to see works of a local artist on display each month. The library is located at 437 Greenway Trail off Hwy. 331 South. Follow South Walton Coastal Branch Library on Facebook for updates and events.
