Evening of Giving Back @ Bud & Alleys and Pizza Bar

Bud & Alley’s Waterfront Restaurant and Bud & Alley’s Pizza Bar in partnership with Donner-Peltier Distillers will host an Evening of Giving Back to benefit the charity, Food for Thought Outreach. The event will be held Saturday, Aug. 27 from 5-9 p.m. at both Bud & Alley’s Pizza Bar and Bud & Alley’s Waterfront Restaurant located in Seaside. This special charity event is free and open to the public.

The Evening of Giving Back is a series of charity events taking place at several Emerald Coast bars and restaurants throughout the season. Proceeds from the evening’s sales of the cocktail dubbed “Summer on 30A” will benefit Food for Thought, a Santa Rosa Beach based non-profit formed in 2010 to serve area children. Their goal is to support a child’s development and educational experience by bridging the gap between school meals during weekends and holiday breaks.

“We are thrilled to be opening the doors of two of our restaurants for this event. We welcome everyone to come on out for a fun evening that supports an important and deserving cause in our community,” said Dave Rauschkolb owner/founder of Bud & Alley’s restaurants.

The series was the brainchild of Donner-Peltier Distillers’ Johnny Culpepper, who sought a creative way to introduce Donner-Peltier’s craft-distilled spirits to the Emerald Coast. “After we debuted the ‘Summer on 30A’ cocktail at a film festival in the area, it soon became quite apparent that we had a winner on our hands; people immediately loved it!” he said. 

Culpepper figured it would be a wonderful thing to connect with more people, but also wanted to attach the beverage to something greater. “The concept began to spread, and local restaurateurs were eager to participate,” he said.

The new “Summer on 30A” cocktail was created by Corey Jernigan, a local brand ambassador for Donner-Peltier. It is a mix of Oryza gin or vodka, lemon juice, watermelon, basil infused cane syrup, elderflower, and Giffard's Vanille du Madagascar. “It is slightly tart, sweet, very aromatic, and an altogether refreshing summer treat,” Jernigan says.”

Donner-Peltier is a locally-sourced, micro-distiller that was founded in Thibodaux, Louisiana in 2012. Located in the heart of Louisiana’s sugar cane country, it is the only distiller in the world to make vodka from long-grain rice and rum from Louisiana sugarcane.
