Thai Elephant serves truly authentic cuisine straight from the Land of Smiles. And smiles are exactly what you’ll find at owner Pok Lafargue’s restaurant. Just ask anyone who’s tried her Pad See-Ew.
Pok came to the United States in 2007 via New Orleans. After a four-year stint in a seafood market in one of the world’s most respected culinary cities, she decided to call Destin home and opened her own restaurant.
Originally opened in Miramar Beach, Thai Elephant garnered a following of SoWal locals who love Thai food. Thai Elephant is now located in Santa Rosa Beach in Plaza 98 near the Post Office, making it even more convenient for locals to get their Thai fix.
The eatery serves up old time home cooking with a detailed menu of apps, soups, salads, curries, rice bowls and noodle entrees. Thai Elephant even gives a nod to vegetarians. Staples like Pad Thai, Tom Kha Gai (chicken coconut soup) and Thai Beef Salad have loyal followers.
Thai Elephant keeps it interesting by offering special menu items, like Tea Rose Dumplings and Chicken Satay, chicken skewers marinated in coconut milk and yellow curry, for a break from the norm.
Formerly located in Miramar Beach, Thai Elephant is now located in the Emerald Coast Plaza on Highway 98 in Santa Rosa Beach and offers lunch specials, dinner and take-out daily. Enjoy old time home cooking in the dining room or call ahead for take-out at 850-660-6711. Follow Thai Elephant on Facebook for updates and reviews.
