South of Philly
They say if you want something done right, you have to do it yourself. Jeremy Price was having such a hard time finding a decent Philly Cheesesteak at the beach that he decided to open his own restaurant. Now SoWal locals are flocking to South of Philly for their cheesesteak fix, and a whole lot more.
“I grew up just outside of Philadelphia and eating Philly Cheesesteaks was just a way of life,” says Jeremy. “When my family moved to South Walton, we decided to continue that tradition with our own restaurant featuring the traditional Cheesesteak.”
South of Philly is a bit off the beaten path but very close to the beach at Ed Walline Park and Gulf Place. The restaurant has been embraced by locals who know where to go for great food in a relaxed place at a good price. The cheesesteak is the real deal made from cuts of ribeye and served with some of the best seasoned fries you'll find anywhere.
South of Philly caters to locals with a daily $10 lunch special that includes a sandwich, fries and drink. By far, the most ordered menu item is the Cheesesteak, followed by the hand-pattied cheeseburger and the gyro. Continuing his Philadelphia allegiance, Jeremy offers a $5 Cheesesteak following every Philadelphia Eagle win during the regular NFL season.
Other delicious menu items include Quesadillas, Italian Hoagies, Hot pastrami Sandwiches, and Caribbean Shrimp Tacos. Buffalo Chicken, Smoked Turkey, and Chicken Caesar wraps appeal to the lighter side of things, along with assorted salads and smoothies. Thirst quenchers include sodas, teas, water, and domestic beers. A variety of locally-brewed beers are also available.
