Hunks and Hounds is set to be printed in October and will be available on the website and at in South Walton area stores throughout the year.

Local photographer Dawn C. Whitty of Dawn Chapman Whitty Photography has graciously donated her time and services to shoot the calendar, and Keri Atchley of Design 360 donated her time and services to create the website and design the calendar.

It costs over $55,000 each month to operate Alaqua Animal Refuge, and the organization relies on fundraising and private donations to meet the rising costs. Proceeds from the Hunks and Hounds calendar will benefit Alaqua's mission to give animals shelter, safety, and second chances.

Alaqua Animal Refuge is the premier no-kill animal shelter in Northwest Florida. The independent, nonprofit organization advocates the general welfare and humane treatment of animals by providing shelter, prevention of pet overpopulation, and adoption services. Located on 10 acres in Freeport, the refuge was formed by Walton County resident Laurie Hood in 2007 when she discovered that countless animals were being euthanized due to the lack of a no-kill shelter/adoption organization in the area. Since that time, Alaqua Animal Refuge has helped find homes for more than 9,000 animals. Currently, up to 100 animals are adopted per month from this unique rescue facility, which serves as a true refuge for more than 250 animals at any given time.
