No color change here yet. We have had some cool mornings over the past couple of weeks but with the temps staying in the 80's, especially warm today and going to be 85 both days this weekend, it makes it virtually impossible for any change here yet.

We are at about 50% color right now. High's in the 50's - 60's. Heat on at night. Jeans and light jackets. Gloves, blankies & hot chocolate during football games.

AggieB thanks for sharing Grandfather Mountain, one of the most beautiful for Fall Foliage. In the Smokies you don't always get spectacular color due to so many Evergreens.

I have always wanted to visit Vermont in the Fall.

I'll try and take some mountain shots tomorrow. For some reason that mountain shot I took isn't that clear, and also won't peak for a couple of weeks. Some of the other mountains are starting to, especially ones with more maples. I'll go tomorrow. Driving home from the wedding we went to this weekend was real pretty in parts. I left my camera in the trunk though and my memory card at home.

Mango, Thanks so much for such beautiful photos of New England to start our day! The colors are spectacular!

I took a drive yesterday ( shopping ;)) and didn't have my camera with me...I knew we must have been at peak b/c all the reds/oranges/yellows and greens were so vibrant! I'll have to try to get out and gets some pics! It's cloudy today and it's gonna rain the next couple of days..I wish I would have taken some when the sky was so blue.

Mango, it's just breathtaking there!!!

Igottogo, Crazy K and I are heading to K's place in NC on Friday and we promise to take pic's, can't promise that we will be able to download them though...we are having technical difficulties!!! And our Tech Dude (Swafia) is on medical bedrest.......

I don't like that kind of fall (cold) - though the leaves are beautiful! I love a SoWal Fall with temps in the 70s and 80s. we don't get a lot of color, but the weather is oh so perfect in Oct, Nov, even Dec....

I look forward to seeing Fall colors through the lenses of some of you up north!

Well, since we had so much rain this season, it seems the leaves still have not peaked yet. I was further North yesterday and stopped by the Vanderbilt mansion, which is on the Hudson River and down the road from the FDR House and Presidential library, and shot these pictures off with my pocket cam.
(I was thinking of y'all)

I'll be out of town till the 19th. They will have peaked in my neighborhood , but I probably could get some good shots of peak South of me, closer to NYC.
Nonetheless, this should whet your appetite until I can get peak shots.

thanks for the autumn splendor Mangy! gosh I've forgotten what that kind of fall looks like.. a trip to the mountains is definitely in order!

Oh, Mango, makes me "homesick"...one of my favorites memories is of driving out of the city one late October, on our way to the outlet malls to buy a coat--driving through one of the little towns the sycamores were so beautiful and the wind was blowing their huge leaves all over the road. It was breathtaking. I can still feel the briskness of the air and see the way the light hit those leaves as they fluttered down to the roadway...thanks for posting.

the one photo of the country road reminds me of the road up the cottage our family had in the little village of Westbrookville...such good memories.

The leaves are past peak, but still some beautiful color. It seems like they were peaked when I got home, then almost half dropped immediately.

Will be in Lake Junaluska, NC soon. Will let you know how things are near the Asheville area. Made the Christmas tour at the Vanderbilt digs one year, fabulous. Played golf last year at a private resort near Grandfather Mountain. Some SoWal folks have a great place near there and their own waterfall. Beyond words. Miami Dolphin's owner tried to buy from them, but they wouldn't sell.


This is how Lake Junaluska looked this time of year recently. It was a bad drought year, so expect a better showing this year.

How beautiful !! Being coast rats you dont see views like this down here. But I can go swimming in January

We had beautiful weather most of the time. Only one day of heavy rain. Wonderful for walking around Lake Junaluska, North Carolina.
