Storms---
As I am sitting here listening to sirens and hearing our forecasters tell us the super cell tornado is coming, I wonder.......when I finally get to sowal, how often will I have to deal w/ tornadoes?

I hope you're SoWalling from a cellar or closet! Hunker down, and be sure to tell us you're okay when it's over!

Re: Storms---
no cellar, no saferoom, but I have radar blaring everywhere. I hate the Super cell word, regular tornadoes are fine, super cell means below ground which we don't have in ok.....Sowalling since I have to stay up till it passes.....

Re: Storms---
Hey. Hope you are okay and can go to bed soon Dunelover. I'm watching Weather Channel, too. Tornadoes (or water spouts that start over the Gulf or Bay) are certainly something to be concerned about here in SoWal, but the severity does not usually seem to be like what you have around Dallas and Oklahoma. I take it all seriously. At least with a tornado, you might have some idea one is approaching. Earthquakes that frequent other areas are unpredictable. In over 50 years of having a home here, I haven't observed that many that caused much damage. In hurricane Opal, the only death, I think in this area was from a tornado, but that was up around Crestview or near the northern county borders.

Re: Storms---
With how many tornadoes AND the proximity of military bases, I don't understand why there are no sirens. I grew up in the Midwest where you had air raid/tornado sirens to warn communities.
My community tested the sirens the first wednesday of every month at noon, my grandmother's community did it every day at 5 pm to signal the start of cocktail hour!

Trampoline from kids across the street tore up my neighbors roof, but we are all good today!
