I hope you're SoWalling from a cellar or closet! Hunker down, and be sure to tell us you're okay when it's over!

Re: Storms---

Hey. Hope you are okay and can go to bed soon Dunelover. I'm watching Weather Channel, too. Tornadoes (or water spouts that start over the Gulf or Bay) are certainly something to be concerned about here in SoWal, but the severity does not usually seem to be like what you have around Dallas and Oklahoma. I take it all seriously. At least with a tornado, you might have some idea one is approaching. Earthquakes that frequent other areas are unpredictable. In over 50 years of having a home here, I haven't observed that many that caused much damage. In hurricane Opal, the only death, I think in this area was from a tornado, but that was up around Crestview or near the northern county borders.

That is really good to hear. We have to be the storm chasing capital of the world.

All is good, downgraded to severe w/ hail only...yeah...

Re: Storms---

With how many tornadoes AND the proximity of military bases, I don't understand why there are no sirens. I grew up in the Midwest where you had air raid/tornado sirens to warn communities.

My community tested the sirens the first wednesday of every month at noon, my grandmother's community did it every day at 5 pm to signal the start of cocktail hour!

Ours are first Saturday at noon....kids used to call it the "whistle man". Crazy thing about sirens here is they sound them for the whole county which meant if we would have listened we would have been in the bathroom for over an hour! Then later one formed right over our interesection and no siren......Can't always trust them. Last year one touched down about 100yds away, siren sounded after it hit....
Trampoline from kids across the street tore up my neighbors roof, but we are all good today!

Looks like ya'll are having problems again tonight. My son's family spent an hour in the bathroom tub this afternoon in North Dallas.
