I believe that depends on your definition of singing. Sanjina could "sing".
I remember hearing Sanjaya in the audition rounds and thinking he sounded really really good. But he just didn't have it mentally for the kind of contest show that AI is- he had a couple rough weeks where it all fell apart and, save for one time, he never got it back together again.
If Tatiana makes it through to the semifinals, it's a sign that AI's psych screening it not up to par with other reality shows. I'm starting to feel like she's got a significant mental health problem.
The judges seemed impressed with Tatiana last night. I bet she makes it through. The girl gives me the creeps. Hopefully nothing will be funny to her, because that's when she really scares me.

I had that feeling during the first audition. I can't believe she made it this far except for the fact that tonight is the final see ya round and they probably have to drag her out of the room.
I always wondered why they put them in those rooms with no furniture. Then I remember some of the pro wrestling stunts with folding chairs.
I thought it was pretty telling about how by the time that judges came by, everyone else in the room had carefully edged away from the crazy lady.
Thing is, if she was, like, actually sane and worked with a good vocal coach, I think she's got a decent voice underneath it all. Not pop stardom level, but she could be good enough for the Vegas/cruise ship circuit. (And while Simon may mock those kinds of jobs, they let you financially support yourself by singing, which is something that 99% of the wannabes will never do)
I noticed everyone had moved away from her. What was up with the open door next to her? It looked like some kind of harness was coming out of there to hold her down. I can't wait for tonight's melt down. I'm betting she's institutionalized after tonight.

My favorite Idol. Danny Gokey. He's the one whose wife passed away 4 weeks before the auditions. So sad.
Love his personality and his voice is fantastic. Have a feeling he is going far in the competition.

The only thing I can think of is that they put those nuts through for the..um..."entertainment factor".
I was not surprised by most of the choices, even Tatiana can sort of sing (as opposed to Bikini Girl) even though she ain't right, and she cannot possibly make it very far with America voting. But, I seriously question the choices of "Norman Gentle" and some others.

I haven't been watching too much of American Idol due to the fact that there have been college hoops games on that I've had an interest in that were on at the same time. It's hard to get me away from SEC hoops and I missed about half of the Vandy Kentucky game tonight due to Idol but Idol was pretty good tonight.
I was really impressed by Ricky Braddy, our hometown Memphis girl Alexis Grace, and Anoop Desai, or Anoop Dog as he likes to be called. They all 3 have great voices. I like Michael Sawer also, he has a fairly good voice, his performance tonight was not bad, I had to vote for him also.
I was not impressed at all by Stevie Wright, she was not good at all, nor was Casey Carlson who sang a Police song. Ann Marie Boskovich from Nashville was not very good, Stephen Fowler totally messed up and I was not impressed with Tatiana Del Toro either. I do like Danny Gokey, however, I do not think he was the best I had heard tonight.
They have changed the way they are doing things this year, having 3 groups of twelve and only 3 moving on out of each group. I did not watch hardly any of Idol last year so they may have done this way last year.

I've thought a little more about the song choice thing. Do y'all think they really get to pick the songs? Wasn't there some discussion about this last year? I seriously don't think some of them would have picked those songs. Wasn't it suggested that maybe the producers pick the songs knowing that it will showcase some and not others?

The church music director was definitely the best. Good control. Just hope he can tone down his minister persona a bit.
I think Tatiana is going to get the "vote for the worst" vote just to keep her certifiable crazy self on. Simon will get tired of it and start making her cry, then get ready for the melt down.
Alexis was the stand out. She sang as well as any other AI contestant ever has. Ricky Braddy was good and the rest were disappointing. I think Danny Gokey had a bad night. Bad song choice.
