Final Top 25 Teams Recruiting Rankings

By: Stephen Spiewak
MaxPreps.com
The final CBS College Sports Research Rankings of the day are in and several California schools soared.

Southern California moved from No. 6 to No. 3, while California jumped from No. 20 to No. 13. The UCLA Bruins made the biggest leap, rising from No. 17 to No. 8.

Alabama fell from the No. 4 spot to No. 9. Georgia, which lost Da'Rick Rogers and Nickell Robey, dropped from No. 12 to No. 18.

1. Florida
2. Texas
3. USC
4. Oklahoma
5. LSU
6. Penn State
7. Notre Dame
8. UCLA
9. Alabama
10. Michigan
11. Auburn
12.Tennessee
13. California
14. Washington
15. Ohio State
16. Florida State
17. Oregon
18. Georgia
19. Stanford
20. North Carolina
21. Miami (Fla.)
22. Michigan State
23. Iowa
24. North Carolina State
25. Missouri

Notes

* One of the day's biggest stories was Derek Dooley's ability to keep the Vols' class together and even snag a few new recruits. Dooley landed offensive offensive lineman James Stone, quarterback Nash Nance, and swayed Da'Rick Rogers away from Georgia.

Three weeks ago, it seemed unlikely that Tennessee would be able to keep any top recruits, let alone secure new additions. Needless to say, Vols fans are happy with their haul.

* Iowa quietly landed a really solid class. No one talked about them much today, but they signed A.J. Derby, Andrew Donnal, and C.J.Fiedorowicz, three difference makers at the next level.

* Auburn did an outstanding job closing. The computer rankings have the Tigers at No.11 and Alabama at No.9, but there are more than a few people who like Auburn has the superior class.

* It's amazing that LSU finished in the top five once again. Last year, Les Miles had a top five class and the Tigers are primed for the nation's No. 1 class in 2011. LSU continues to reload.

* It was definitely a quiet year for Ohio State. The Buckeyes had a stronger recruiting class in 2010. Watch for them to bounce back next year, as they have already secured commitments from two top 100-caliber players.

* After beginning the day outside the Top 25, the Florida State Seminoles did a nice job rising to No. 16. They missed out on Demar Dorsey and Corey Lemonier, but still had a solid day.

Not a bad day for Tennessee, certainly more than anyone expected three weeks ago.
Rivals.com had Tennessee in 9th place and eight SEC schools in the Top 25.

Espn

Quote:
if you go by espn’s final rankings for the recruiting class of 2010, then once again the southeastern conference is definitely the place to be. The sec placed three of the top four teams (#1 florida; #3 alabama; and number #4 auburn); plus had lsu (#8) and tennessee (#9) in the top 10.

Additionally, south carolina (#23) and ole miss #25 made it into the top 25. of the espnu 150 best players in the country, the sec landed 56 players including 21 of the top 50. Florida (17) had more top 150 players than all the teams combined in the atlantic coast (16), big ten (14) and big east (3) conferences. The sec had more top 150 players (56) than the big 12 (28) and pac-10 (27) combined. if you want to play for championships and play the game at its highest level, the sec is the place to be.
