Need surfbaord advice for Christmas

My 13 year old wants a surfboard for Christmas. We're looking at used ones. She has used a long board and done well. She's small but very coordinated. We want to get her one that she can learn to use quickly and will last for a while. I know absolutely nothing about the sport. Any advice or leads on a used board would be greatly appreciated.

I would say go smaller. If she really likes the sport she can really begin to understand all the dynamics of it. With a smaller board she can learn to duck dive and get in to working a wave rail to rail instead of just drifting down the line. What does she weigh? I would probably lean toward a hybrid board. A fish/short board. The fish part helps her catch the wave and the short board part makes it funn. Don't go too small as catching a wave will be hard but too big is just not really surfing. Give me a call sometime and I can lean you in a good direction to find a board. BTW, if she loves the sport over time she will have many boards.
