I kinda like it. Especially lately with so much traffic on 30A. Lots of bikers lately and it really scares me. They need their own lane really.

I think that serious bikers should avoid Grayton, Watercolor, Seaside, and Seagrove. There is just not enough space, and vehicles have no respect for bikers and walkers. That's why I beat on hoods.

They should do like people do in our town in GA. We have the most fabulous walking path ever in our neighborhood. People park at the public school nearby, walk a 10K, and walk safely.

Bikers can park at Deer Lake, bike east, and get a good workout. Of course, that depends on how many miles thet want to bike. I have seen lots of bikers on Highway 79. It's pretty empty except on checkin/out days and 4-5 PM.

It is needed. We have a very nice bike path running the length of 30-a. I understand the share-the-road concept. Unfortunately, 30-a is not wide enough to accommodate that safely. And, forget 98, you'll get killed out there.

It seems like traffic is doubling every year. Seagrove is just plain nuts. Its really dangerous for the bikes on the road. Especially when they don't heed the stop sign at 395 and 30A.

I can understand why serious bikers would enjoy 30A; however, when cars are behind them , they should at least try to get over on the edge of the road and allow them to pass. It just drives me bananas when they do not even attempt to give cars a chance to go around. I just feel that bikers and motorists should be respectful of each other.

Love it! But I think you need to come up with one for the front of the vehicle, maybe on the snow plow I wish I had on the front end of my car so I could just push them over to the side of the road! And let's not forget to make one for those walker's who are texting and run into me!

I think it should be a law,not just a bumper sticker.I would hope a biker who is riding on the road would not have the gall to hit the hood of my car. They didn't make the bike path for cars,so bikers stay where you are suppose to ride.

I think that if you put a negative message on your bumper, it says much about you! Chances are you will cut a bike rider off to make sure he gets your message! That may risk anothers life, just so your egocentric message is seen! 30A is a cool place where people of all types, run and work out and ride. Bikes in the street can be annoying when you are in a hurry, but it's the friggin beach! Lighten up or go to some miserable place to share your hate.

I think anyone who would put such a bumper sticker on their car has their head you know where and it isn't in the sand. I am not a biker. I drive 30A almost daily. It takes me all of at least 20 seconds to slow and wait on oncoming traffic to pass a biker. What's more, most of those I pass are as far to the right of the road as they can safely get. There is the occasional idiot that stays in the middle but it is extremely rare. The cars that insist on going at least 10 miles under the speed limit are much more onerous to me than any biker. Give them a break!

OK, I jump in and disagree.
Any serious road bike rider can tell you the bike path is not adequete or safe for the speeds of an accomphlised road rider. Throw in the tourist, kids, and it's just dangerous.
Yes, 30A is crowded, narrow and the bikers do hold up traffic but where are they going to ride..98?

The reason the riders don't hung the edge is cars will attempt to "squeeze" past with inches of space thus endangering the rider. I realize it's a sensitive issue with people who do not ride but until our country embraces true, safe bike paths there are few options for riders.
If 98 had a nice, wide, divided path like the one on Hwy 79 going north toward the airport it would certainly help the 30A issue.

While I owned and road a road bike when I lived in Texas I sold it after moving here and ride my mountain bike on the trails on 30A due to the very issue we are discussing.

    Alright, fire away...

I'm with you Papa J. The bike path is not adage alternative for cyclists, nor is the road. Ah if only there were an actual BIKE LANE designated for actual cyclists. The speed limit on the pedestrian/ bike path is 8 mph! It is always going to be an issue, I'm afraid.

Is Beach Runner that stupid to strike a vehicle? Only takes one time to get ugly in a hurry.

I have no issue with bikers, where ever they ride. I do have issue with bikers who feel or act above the law and ride dangerously, through traffic lights and 4 way stops. You want me to share the road then be responsible how you ride on the road or get on the bike path.

My sister and I both do it when cars don't respect people crossing 30A where the bike path changes sides near Cowboy Kitchen and again at the 30A/Eastern Lake Road intersection. I do it in Georgia too. When pedestrians have the right of way, I am very proactive if someone violates the pedestrian crossing law.

Kids at MIT know how to take care of vehicles disrespecting students when crossing 77 Mass Ave from the dorms to the Infinite Corridor. They fake stepping out in front of the vehicle. Scares the heck out of the driver especially since there are cops there. I guess I learned the beating on hoods there.

Don't beat on the hood of a pickup in the south or you might get a shotgun in the face.

That's what our daughter tells me. Especially when I flash my signs that say
    NO TURN SIGNAL?
    or
GET OFF THE PHONE AND DRIVE!

Actually once when I flashed the second sign, the guy to whom it was directed turned around and started following me. I was on my way home so I diverted and started heading towards the police department. He stopped following me.

Just read that San Francisco authorities have charged a cyclist who busted a stop sign and killed a pedestrian with vehicular manslaughter. It will be interesting to see how the discussion goes with this incident.

A cyclist is NOT apedestrian. A bicycle is a vehicle and the operator must abide by traffic laws. When crossing in the crosswalk, dismount your bike and walk it across the road. This is a major part of the problem. Know the rules of the road and follow them. I speak as a cyclist and a 30a driver.

I agree, bluemtnrunner. A bicycle is a vehicle, not a pedestrian.

A lot of the issues called out in this thread would be helped by 1) cyclists not riding the wrong side of the road, facing oncoming traffic, as many do within WaterColor, and 2) cyclists not blazing through stop signs, as many do everywhere around the 30-A neighborhoods. I'm not going to insist that a cyclist stop & dismount at a stop sign, but cyclists must treat a stop sign, at the very least, as a "yield" sign.

I just can't believe how many full families -- kids led by or followed by the clueless parents -- will ride right through stop signs within WaterColor, fully expecting a car already within the same intersection to yield. What kind of training is that for the kids??

I think drivers and bikers showing more consideration for both the rules of the road and each other would be far more effective than this rude sticker.

I propose for just one day out of the year, everybody the world over just make an effort to pay attention to things as much as possible during their waking hours. No walking or driving with cellphones, no daydreaming, just get with the program. You only have to do it for one day, and if you like it, you can keep doing it. It might catch on and become a fad.

whatever.....so there are some people on bicycles in the road, take it easy.
