UPDATE: Santa Rosa Beach man killed in wreck

SANTA ROSA BEACH — A 41-year-old man was killed Tuesday night after he was ejected from his vehicle during a wreck.

Mark P. Doherty of Santa Rosa Beach was driving his 1989 Jeep Wrangler westbound on County Road 30A around 11:30 p.m. when the wreck occurred, according to the Florida Highway Patrol press release.

Doherty's vehicle had an open top with no side door attachments and he was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the wreck.

According to the FHP report, Doherty, for unknown reasons, lost control of his vehicle and veered left hitting the guardrail near Acadia Street. The Jeep rotated clockwise and Doherty was ejected.

The 41-year-old man was taken to Sacred Heart Hospital in Walton where he was later pronounced dead.

It is not known if alcohol was a factor. The crash is currently under investigation.
