Anyone rented in Alys Beach? Thoughts?

Wondering if anyone has rented in Alys Beach. If yes, did you rent through VRBO or through the rental company. And where did you stay (which property) and how was it? I've started to see some discounting and we'll be visiting in October and want to pay a "fair" rate. Thanks in advance!

Alys Beach itself has 18 properties on the program and every one is very nice. Not too crowded of course.

Thanks Kurt! It's been a couple of years since we drove through the "town" ... how built out is it? It's hard to tell how much is propaganda on their website and what is real and actually exists. Is there lots of construction traffic/noise or is it pretty quiet given the economy. And how far is the walk to the beach from the units on the north side of 30A by Caliza?

It's been moving slowly. Not too much construction going on but you might ask to be sure there's nothing going on right next to where you will stay. Otherwise it will be fairly quiet with great food and pool at Caliza, George's, and an easy walk or bike to Seacrest and Rosemary Beach. None of the houses are too far from the beach but you may want to bike rather than walk. The beach is about the same distance south of 30A as Caliza is north of 30A. But you have to walk a bit west also.

There are a few gulf front houses going up and a large pavilion where the owner's club will be.
