Description: This is a Mexican slow cooked beef dish that kind of makes it's own gravy/sauce. Serve with rice and beans and good flour tortillas for sopping!
Difficulty: Easy

Ingredients:
  1. 2-3lbs round steak-I used top sirloin because it was cheaper!
  2. tsp vegetable oil or a good spray of Pam
  3. cumin
  4. chili powder
  5. small onion
  6. bell pepper
  7. jalapeno
  8. 1 Tbs corn starch
  9. 1 cup water
  10. small can tomato sauce or 14 oz can diced tomatoes (I use sauce)
  11. salt and pepper
Preparation:
  1. cut up meat into 1 inch'ish cubes
  2. chop onion, bell pepper
  3. dice jalapeno, I used whole pepper but if you want less heat then don't use seeds and membrane, if you want very mild then omit the pepper
Instructions:
  1. -Brown meat, I used 2 pans to brown the meat so it wasn't crowded
  2. -Combine meat into a deeper pan and add onion, bell pepper and jalapeno and saute the veggies with meat
  3. -Add tomato sauce (or diced tomatoes)
  4. -stir cornstarch into water and then pour into mixture
  5. -add 6 shakes of cumin and 4 shakes of chili powder, if chili powder is spicy to you then you can lessen it or omit
  6. -Cover and simmer stirring every few minutes for about 20-30 minutes then cook on low stirring from time to time for 2 hours or throw it into a crock pot on low for probably 3 hours (my plan next time)
  7. -Serve with white or spanish style rice and tortillas
