Walton County Sheriff Appointed to Commission for Law Enforcement Accreditation

    NEWS RELEASE
Walton County Sheriff Appointed to Commission for Law Enforcement Accreditation

    For Immediate Release
    October 25, 2010

The Commission for Florida Law Enforcement Accreditation, Inc. (CFA) announced the appointment of Walton County Sheriff Michael A. Adkinson, Jr. to the position of commissioner. Sheriff Adkinson received notification of the appointment October 18. Sheriff Adkinson, who replaces Commissioner Wendell Hall, Sheriff of the Santa Rosa County, will assume his new responsibilities at the February 2011 CFA conference in Martin County, Fla.

“Accreditation enhances law enforcement’s ability to provide professional services to its citizens,” said Walton County Sheriff Michael A. Adkinson, Jr. “This appointment is significant because it allows me to serve Florida law enforcement by furthering its commitment to excellence.”

The CFA was created in 1993 pursuant to Florida Statute to serve as an accrediting body for Florida law enforcement agencies. The Commission currently consists of four police chiefs, four sheriffs, and one representative each from the Florida Association of Counties, League of Cities, Judiciary, and the State Law Enforcement Chiefs Association. Since its inception, more than 125 agencies have been accredited by complying with approximately 250 professional standards.

The Walton County Sheriff’s Office is currently undergoing the accreditation process and is scheduled for an on-site assessment in 2011.
