"Crush" - new wine bar in Seaside opening 3/9/10

Crush hopes to open March 1, owned by Jim Altamura who also owns Marina Cafe in Destin and Destin Chops 30A in Seacrest. Crush will be in the space previously occupied by Cafe Rendez-vous.

I have been gone for a while and obviously out of touch. When did Cafe-Rendezvous close?? I really enjoyed that place

I believe their last day was around 12/1/09. A lot of people will miss it but I'm sure the new place will be excellent.

I liked the outdoor seating area and wonder if it will re-appear.

Juneau I think we'll all miss Cafe Rendezvous, but the new wine bar sounds wonderful.

    Reconsider the name "Crush"

Attention Jim, Mark and Michael. "CRUSH" is a bad name. The other two considerations are better. Crush sounds like a cheesy night club in Miami and I can't seem to get orange soda out of my mind. I'm afraid people won't understand that you guys will offer great food and carefully selected wines with that title. I am, however, very excited about having Borago backed grub in a great location.

Let me know when you're ready and I'll stop by for some photos. And by ready, I mean (mmmmmmm) cooking (just kidding).

No Vintij coming to 30A. It will stay in its current location.

    Opening March 9th.

OK, somebody help me out. Is "Crush" going to be in Seaside where the other wine bar (I can't remember the name) was? What is the connection to Borago? One more thing, Borago is nothing you ever hear much about and I have been coming there for years and finally went there for dinner about 3 years ago and was amazed at the food, the service, the bar. I think it is one of the best places on 30A. I know this information is on many of these forums but can someone tell me what is new down there besides Crush? We come every April and October so we were there in October but things change so often. Thanks for any information you can give.

Oops. I just went back a little further and found Cafe Rendevous was the name of the place. Would still love some more info about the new place there and any other new places.

Crush is part of the Altamira restaurant group that founded Borago, which was bought out by the current owners and chefs.

If you type in "Borago" in the search feature on SoWal, you will find LOTS of info. Same with other area restaurants- lots has been said and I think you will find more info on local favorites, restaurant news, etc. than you will ever need or use!

    Looking forward to Crush!

Has anyone been? What are the comments? I probably won't go for a while due to massive crowds in Seaside (I avoid at all costs!)
