All non-essential Walton County Government offices will be closed beginning Monday, November 9 at noon through Wednesday, November 12. The Board of County Commissioners has declared a state of emergency to handle Hurricane Ida for Monday and Tuesday. County government offices are closed Wednesday in observance of Veterans Day.

Walton County Sheriff’s officials are operating the Emergency Operations Center throughout the storm. For further information, contact the Sheriff’s Office Citizen Information Line at (850) 892-8392 or 892-8394. The Board of County Commissioners regularly scheduled meeting and all public hearings on Tuesday, November 9 (I assume this is supposed to be Tuesday November 10) have been MOVED to Thursday, November 12, 10:00 a.m. The meeting location will be at the Walton County Courthouse, Commission Board Room, in DeFuniak Springs. This is a change from the original meeting scheduled at the South Walton Courthouse Annex in Santa Rosa Beach.

For further information on cancellations and meeting changes, please log on to the Board of County Commission’s website at www.co.walton.fl.us or the Walton County Sheriff’s Office website at www.waltonso.org and Citizens Information Hotline at (850) 892-8392 or 892-8394.

Kurt, do you know of any restaurant closings? Hubby is craving Pizza Bar for tonight.

When I was there for TS Danielle in August, they were closed. A lot of reatuarants were closed. Thankfully Bruno's was open.

Haven't heard of any yet - some might close tomorrow. Best to call first.

I am debating on whether or not to cancel my 10 am Tuesday hair appt. I need a haircut and color so badly that I might brave driving through a monsoon.

Hubby drove around the 'hood this evening. La Botana, Flip-Flops -- can't tell if they're open because the parking is in the back. Café Thirty-A is open. Bruno's is open. Seaside appeared closed except for Great Southern. Borago is open. Red Bar looked open, even though we heard that it is now closed on Mondays and Tuesdays.

He picked up a really good pizza at Bruno's. BTW they have redecorated.

Hey, gull, I have driven to Buckhead for a hair appointment when it was snowing. I have also kept my appointments on two separate occasions when the salon had no water because a water main burst (common problem with the Atlanta infrastructure). They shampooed and rinsed my hair from individual (can't remember the brand) bottles poured into a large flower vase.

Now if the power goes out, that's a different story. I think I'd call first to see if they have power and water.

    Really?

If it was absolutely necessary I'd call first to see if my stylist could actually GET to the salon ................and that's if they loved me so much they were even willing to TRY and get to the salon (and open and staff it).

Ida may be a tropical storm or depression, but it still is quite a bit stronger than the windspeed requirement to close the bridges.

Holy rude diva behavior batman! You made them wash your hair with bottled water from freaking flower vases? TWICE?!?

No, I didn't make them do it. It was their idea. They did it for everyone.
