    Gourmet Magazine Folds

After a 68-year run, Condé Nast is pulling the plug on Gourmet magazine. Guess I'll have to get my food porn on-line.

They're also shutting down Modern Bride and Elegant Bride--can't say I'll be crying a river over that loss.

Conde Nast closes beloved Gourmet magazine and three others -- DailyFinance.

But hey...Top Ramen tastes a whole lot better when you eat it off of a Granite Countertop. (Mr & Mrs Too Much Homebuyer)

Well@#$%#$Q@#$ I love the mag and they just came and did a photo shoot with ChefEd. We have been so looking forward to seeing his dishes on Gourmet's glossy pages.

I love flipping through Gourmet, especially as a passenger in the car or at bedtime. Looking at the same stuff online just isn't the same for me.

Sorry to hear this, but I must say the recipes were innovative early on, but now, most people want easier and user friendly recipes. Many of their recipes were repeats of years past with a few new twists.
I cut out recipes from 10-15 years ago which I still have in a box to tape to a file card (which I never did ) I have gone through those recipes and printed on line. Looking at the recipes from that long ago...I see the same recipes repeated in the magazine now. I think it has become stale.

Sorry BMR...maybe they will still put the magazine out for a while and include Chef Ed's article! I would buy that one in a HEARTBEAT!!!

I started to do this to consolidate Ed's millions of mags into one cardfile. I didn't even get as far as cutting them all out. Now the mags are in new boxes but my daughter put her name on them! They are her problem now.

Are they pulling the plug on Bon Appetit Mag also?
FYI- Epicurious.com has recipes from both magazines as well as their own, so you'll get 3 for 1 stop online selections.

Nope, I hear they are keeping that one.

Part of the reason they got rid of Gourmet was that they also had Bon Appetit and thought there was too much overlap in a rapidly shrinking market.

Apparently Gourmet ad sales went down 46% and Bon Appetit ad sales went down 35% - so it stays.
