Signs of Spring - amazing photos of spring around the world

    Signs of Spring
The Northern Hemisphere is once more beginning its lean towards the Sun, with the spring equinox taking place last Friday, March 20th. People all over are welcoming the spring sunshine and new growth in many ways - from Stonehenge and Mayan pyramids to Dutch meadows and Texan beaches. Here is a collection that shows some of the signs of spring as we shake off the last bits of winter. (29 photos total)

these are wonderful photos of spring time scenes and events from around the world. a few from USA - check out the spring break girls in Texas! ahhh, to be young and skinny and drinking beer in a bikini for a week on the beach.

This fellow is almost as good as Hop's tar.

Great pictures, but the US bikini girls on the beach makes the the US look shallow in comparison to the other Countries celebration of Spring.

I love that older people can put on tiny suits and get out for some sun without feeling like crap about their bodies.

also, at first I felt as you do about the US gals in their teeny bikinis. then I realized they are beautiful young girls who are joyful and celebrating spring in a very American way. and there are other US photos that are beautiful in different ways.

These are great! And, this email wasn't too long for me....

I don't really understand the Ruskies smushing they faces against a brick wall~~~~~~I think that was my favorite one! And, the Stonehenge one, of course!

    Thanks for sharing!!

P.S. It just occurred to me that it is also Spring in the Southern Hemisphere - if anyone can find pics and share, that'd be really cool, too!

Thanks Toots~~ We've been waiting a long time for spring! That photo of all the torches going up the mountain made me think of the composition "Night on Bald Mountain."

I do the bulbs beginning Thanksgiving and through spring! love them - better than fresh flowers, imo. like a garden in the house.

I love summer til the 4th. then over it. over the heat. over the crowds. over the sand all in my house. over the hauling stuff to the beach and back. then the real heat sets in come August. give me the fall and early winter - my most favorite seasons of all. as you know!

I'm so tempted to start them around Thanksgiving.....amaryllis and narcissus???? What else do you do?

But, my ritual is that I set them mid Christmas Season so they blossom in Jan and that fragrance fills the house.......funny how we have our systems for Spring!!!

narcissus all through the holidays (several pots at various times so I can enjoy them for months), with an amaryllis thrown in. then daffodils in the spring. sometimes tulips.
