Many SoWal Giving Opportunities - Every Dollar and Effort Counts!

We have many local charity events and organizations that need our help this holiday season. Some of these groups benefit our friends, neighbors, and colleagues, and others are organizations that make up the fabric of our community and make SoWal the truly special place that is our home.

Please consider a donation of any amount of money and/or your time, to local groups that provide assistance to members of our community (like Caring and Sharing), to groups that protect the beauty of our area (like the SWCC), and to groups that provide programs that you enjoy and that make our community strong (The Seaside Rep).

This weekend, there are 3 events happening that support groups which are amazing community treasures:

    The 30A Radiothon starts tomorrow:

The Dirty Santa Ball on Saturday benefits the Seaside Repertory Theater:

Heartworks Kids' Holiday Meal From the Heart is Sunday afternoon:

Hey SoWallers- Please post information on other local groups that need donations this holiday season!

I listened to 30A radio today for an extended period today and boy, what a treasure. It made me chuckle and smile.

Thanks to all the donors, organizers, workers, and supporters of this past weekend's events! There was so much going on, but our little community really "showed up" and made some cool things happen!

Alaqua had an open house yesterday- I hope it went well, and when y'all make your Walmart runs (or Sam's, or wherever you stock your supplies) - remember that Alaqua always needs everything from paper towels to detergent to dog food. Pick up an extra something for them if you can.

Next Sunday (Dec. 14th) is the Elf Ride :

Y'all check your calendars and let us know what else is going on this week!

Maybe it's just my computer, but the 30Aradio link does not work.

Caring and Sharing needs all the help they can get this year. Cafe 30-A has cancelled their fund raiser this year, which will really leave C&S in a bind for Christmas giving.

Can I throw in a recommendation for Walton County Council on Aging? Easy to think of children's needs for Christmas, but there are a lot of low income seniors in the panhandle living in places that would make you weep.

    Caring and Sharing, check.
    Seaside Rep, check.
    Elf Ride, check.

Although it's a lot more than last year it feels really good.

I know this sounds nuts, but after reading the article there was a quote that there was $14k raised last year. Isnt that all the more reason to have it? $14k is a lot to a charity. And if times are tougher, they it all the more not less.
So maybe its not a ball, maybe something else could take its place. Probably too late to try now but sure would have been nice to give something a college try ....

Where do we find info on these people? Are you involved in any way?

I'm not involved with Walton County Council on Aging, but I've worked for similar programs in the area. Contact info is here:

Publix has its "holiday charity bags" available for purchase and Caring and Sharing is also collecting food to distribute for holiday dinners.

If you shop at the Watercolor Publix, you can buy non-perishables and drop them right next door at the UPS store, as they are a collection point for Caring and Sharing.
