MountainFilm at WaterColor Selects 2008 Charity
Two-Day Film Festival Set for November 7 - 8PROCEEDS FROM EIGHTH ANNUAL MOUNTAINFILM TOUR AT WATERCOLOR TO BENEFITSOUTH WALTON COMMUNITY COUNCIL
The popular Telluride MountainFilm on Tour, sponsored by The St. Joe Company, returns to the WaterColor Inn & Resort for its eighth annual run November 7-8. This year, a portion of its proceeds will benefit the South Walton Community Council (SWCC). The donated funds will help support the primary mission of the SWCC, which is to preserve and protect the extraordinary natural resources of South Walton, from its beaches and coastal dune lakes to its state forests, parks and the Choctawhatchee River and Bay.
"We are very excited about being chosen by The St. Joe Company as the recipient of the proceeds from this year’s MountainFilm event. We are grateful to be recognized for our efforts to preserve and enhance the quality of life and the unique natural environment of South Walton County,” said Ella Caro, president of the South Walton Community Council.
The organization is a fitting recipient as all of this year’s films share the theme of “energy” (bio, solar, hydro and wind), with independent filmmakers celebrating community, adventure, culture and environmental preservation.
“We’re proud that MountainFilm will not only continue to culturally enrich the community, but this year also financially support efforts to preserve and protect our natural resources,” said Rod Wilson, senior vice president of The St. Joe Company. “In today’s day and age of heightened conservation awareness, we hope filmgoers will be ‘energized’ by the indie films and inspired to support the SWCC.”
Telluride MountainFilm on Tour will be in the WaterColor Amphitheater on November 7-8 from 6 pm–10 pm. The South Walton Community Council will have a table at the event for those who want to learn more about the organization. This year’s program is also part of the Taste of THE Beach (www.tasteofthebeachfla.com) wine and food festival, and a cash bar serving fine wines will be on offer.
Blankets, folding chairs and outside snacks and drinks are permitted in the amphitheater. No pets, glass or large coolers are allowed.
Tickets, which will go on sale in mid-September, are $25 per person for one night and $40 per person for both nights. For information and tickets call (850) 231-6500.
