still unclear...how in the hail do you flip a car on 30-A
CH heard the crash, called 911 then went out & directed traffic. Both girls were wearing seatbelts, thank goodness, and walked away without a scratch.

wow! Glad everyone was ok..some crazy driver in a reddish truck with kayaks in the back came inches from running my car over yesterday in front of Flip Flops. Peeps need to concentrate on their driving on 30-A.

Where was the accident? I can't quite tell from the photos. Did I hear that one of the cars flipped over?! How does that happen? I'm glad everyone was o.k.

Some crazy road bike cyclers in their Lance Armstrong bike shorts and shirts finally exacted some revenge for all the grief they get riding on 30-A.

So does anyone know how it flipped? My guess is text messaging and driving. I saw it and it looked pretty scary.

There was a crazy accident in front of our house last night. We were watching TV, the door to the foyer was closed, the front door was closed, and the house is about .1 mile from the street. I heard very loud tire-screeching sounds and then a crash. Hubby and I hopped into the car and drove down the driveway. A teenager was driving too fast in post-rain conditions, the car did a 180, crashed into trees, and he walked out alive. No airbags deployed because apparently he had no side bags. All of the damage was on the sides and the rear. The car was crushed like an accordion, totally totalled. I guess it was just not his night to fly to the City of Angels. But if I could hear the tire sounds as far away as I was and as loud as our TV was, his daddy gonna be the City of Whomp-A$$.

Don't know how this one happened, or which car flipped, but I can tell you from experience that if someone hits you hard enough in just the right place, it can turn you right upside down.

Probably not paying attention and over corrected. That's what happened the last time I saw a flipped car. Hit the shoulder and the sand causes the car to turn sideways, then the momentum flips it.

I can speak from experience. Overcorrection is the main reason you flip over. In my case though, the 12 foot wall and telephone pole stopped me.

Who said they flipped over? Maybe they were driving upside down to begin with.

NO That is a dive tag, not a georgia lisence plate. I've lived out on 30-A for 3 years to have my car meet its end at the hands of a speeding 16 year old from Texas. Thank goodness she wasn't hurt, but why was she driving an estimated 60mph in a 35? I'm not broken, but I attribute that to my Jetta. I reccomend it, its so safe!!!!!

My mom has to enter 30-A at Lakewood Drive-- just a tad east of the Fish House. Very dangerous to speed in this curve! It is almost impossible to pull out safely as the line of sight is inadequate if the eastbound cars are speeding (as most are). PLEASE slow down a bit. The life you save may be your own.

Some friends of mine always give directions by telling people to look for the dangerous intersection sign. Maybe a speed-bump is in order?

Or we could just enforce the current speed limits.

The line of sight down the road isn't helped by all the new vegetation planted on Lakewood. Some may think it is pretty, but it is a disaster. It has added to a dangerous intersection. Someone needs to get a chainsaw and trim the heck out of it before more accidents occur. Also, turn off the dang sprinklers during morning rush hour. You have folks trying to go to work and meetings having to dodge all the tourists and others out for their morning jog. People can't walk on the sidewalks because the sprinklers are on and covering the sidewalks. Every day there is a stroller going down the road because they can't use the sidewalk as it is drowned with the sprinklers. geez
