George's at Alys Beach
So I FINALLY made it to George and Ann Hartley's new venture "George's" at Alys Beach. I had the coconut thai salad and my date had the oyster poboy. Me "be-having" and he "Miss-behaving".,,we also enjoyed a couple of beers and I had two glasses of pino grigio, Thank you Ann for buying NORMAL size wine glasses....AND making great pours!!! For a new restaurant, service was great, atmosphere was great and I must admit there is some WONDERFUL artwork on the walls :)
Congrats George and Ann!!!! Can't wait to go again!

Where at Alys is George's? Is it the old building they moved there? When did they open?
Whoops...just read the Sandor's building thread and answered my own questions......

Georges at Alys Beach during sunset
TO DIE FOR menu and attentive wait staff. That is just the beginning of your experience at the most beautiful spot to see the Florida sunset while enjoying Lobster Quesadillas and the most innovative salads on the Panhandle. Great job George and Alice! You made my trip memorable and I will be back in December. One suggestion..... more tart to the Key Lime pie :) Sharon

Review
While staying in Alys Beach we decided to try the local restaurant, George’s. We had to wait a few days for it to open. The outdoor screen porch was very pleasant and the service good. We ordered the fish tacos made with grouper, and the grilled grouper plate served over a bed of greens with fingerling potatoes. The fish was supposedly fresh.
Although the tacos were decent, but not spectacular (the grouper was fried) my grilled fish was absolutely inedible. It had a very strange bitter taste and it was extremely dry and poorly seasoned. I tried adding salt, butter and lemon but it did not help. The fingerling potatoes were dry, undercooked, and just tasted old and they consisted of 2 small potatoes. Hardly a side dish. It was a most horrible meal and the worst fish I’ve ever had.
I should probably have sent it back but I just didn’t feel like the hassle. I complained after we finished our meal to the hostess but she didn’t say much. I ‘m sure their fried seafood items are probably what they do best. I don’t know what was wrong with that grouper, because I’ve had it before and that is not what it is supposed to taste like. What a waste of $50!

I agree with Nola -- you missed your window of opportunity to let them fix it. I hope that you will go back and try it again and report on that also. If you aren't willing to do that, then for karma sake report on a good meal that you've had at another restaurant recently. You've got to balance the negative!
I personally discount anyone's opinion whose first post is critical. Hope you prove me wrong by adding something positive to the forum soon!
