    Beautiful weekend at SoWal

    The good news:
We had a great weekend at SoWal. Man, it's tiring (but fun) watching football non-stop from 12:30 PM until about 12:30 AM (EST).
The weather was incredibly beautiful, so warm for November.
The beach is looking so much better in front of One Seagrove Place (not all of the black stuff). I hope the newly-planted sea oats make it.
The wedding cake house and its two neighbors to the east (beachfront off Eastern Lake) are rebuilding their decks and beach stairwells. I'm happy for them.

    The bad news:
Every football team that we were cheering for lost.
Shades will be closing at the end of December. Where will we watch college sports and get entrees for under $10 a person with a such a friendly wait staff?
Modica is on a day-by-day status. That establishment is the most unique place at SoWal. I refuse to buy lattes at Starbucks when I can get a smile from Mr. Modica.
I had to fuss at people climbing over the dunes to get to the beach.

What do you mean, BR? Does Modica close during the winter?
L'il Pea #2: Mom, do I have abs?
L'il Pea #4: You have one.

Maybe I'm in a fog but what's with Shades closing? And what do you mean Modica is on a day-to-day basis?

What a great report BR! Sounds wonderful....except, I am wondering....do you really like the food at Shade's THAT much? Or is it just a good place to watch sports? We have written off Pickles and Shades has never been a fav. But, that's what is so great about 30-A...different strokes for different folks!

Miss Kitty- this is off the subject- (what else is new?)

I was just admiring your purple hair- do you have plans for a Christmas 'do?

I'm thinking tinsel, a bit of greenery, a little Christmas bling thing happening.

You're on to something here jdarg! YES! A holiday do do for Miss Kitty. BUT she doesn't know how to do it herself, so will need an appointment with
her 'do-er. Has she ever figured who that is?

We want to see Miss Kitty with some holiday bling soon!

So what's the story about Modica and the "day to day status"?

She's our hero! I hope you gave 'em H*LL BR! I always tell people..."The signs were washed away in the storms, but please know that the dunes are all that is saving the beach"....unless Miss Kitty is down there, then WATCH OUT! She is a little like a loose cannon!

Surely she means their hours are changing over to off season? Day to day status sounds like "life support"!!

    Re: Beautiful weekend at SoWal

About Modica: I asked "the man" if they were closing like Shades is, and he said he was taking it a day at a time.

Shades by Rosemary doesn;t have the same atmosphere - I like the funky old house at Shades Seaside. I'll have to admit, their table service leaves something to me desired (not to mention that the furnishings themselves are rather fast-food-ish). But hubby likes the fried grouper sandwich, and I love the Blue Mountain Salad with grilled catch-of-the-day and house dressing.

The weather was gorgeous on Saturday. Sunday AM there were moments when it looked threatening (actually it sprinkled a teensy bit in Seagrove), but then when I went for a walk, it was partly cloudy so I got a little sun.

No pics. Like a moron, I forgot my camera. I also need to buy a new webcam so I can take it to the beach for live video.

That is beach talk for I wish I was at the beach instead of working. For the time being, Modica is going nowhere.

Some of you may have seen construction going on in Seaside. They have been replacing all of the concrete parking area with brick pavers. Also, they are continuing to build the large building, which use to be public parking, to the west of Fusion, the glass shop.

That's great to hear (about Modica). Hope your interpretation is correct.

I guess kind of like in the Caribbean where they talk about "island time."
