    All the charm of Whataburger

at double the price. Just got back from Johnny Rockets at Grand Boulevard and was not overly impressed. Although it is clean and looks good (it should it's brand new), it is pretty standard 50's fare at 2008 prices.

    2 people
    2 hamburgers w/ fries
    1 coke
    1 milkshake

    $32.01

Is that the same crappy arse "diner" franchise they have at Destin Commons?

Let's just say I only frequented that place under duress and only once at that! Ice cream or hot chocolate for dinner is a better option if you want calories to get you through a movie.

Same place, I can't believe there are two so close together. I don't remember the one at Destin Commons being nearly as over priced.

DD I may take you up on that offer.

You could have gotten 2 overpriced burgers w/ fries and 2 drinks for that price at any restaurant on 30-A and still had a smaller bill!

I love Johnny Rockets' chili-cheese fries and milkshakes.

Anybody remember the restaurant Seeger's on West Paces in Atlanta that closed a couple of years ago? It was really good, but they served really small portions. For example, if you ordered scallops, you'd get one scallop. We were always hungry after dining there, so once after Seeger's we went two blocks away to Johnny Rockets and had chili-cheese fries.

OMG! I rully, rully like those fries!

The Johnny Rockets here just must be more expensive, Lil' FFF and I went a couple of weeks ago to the one close to our house in Birmingham had two burgers, she had a milkshake, I had a diet coke and we shared and chili chees fry and it was under $24.00.

Really surprised at the prices! The food was nothing special at the Destin location. I like "Tops" for burgers, though the service is slow with only one employee at times.

The closet one to them would be on Northwest Highway east of Central and past the Target at Medallion Center.

I was so glad when Pier park opted out of Johnny Rockets and got a five Guys, they are the best. I wish Grand Boulevard wouldve done the same.

Five Guys ain't cheap (ShallowsSquirt & I paid $20 for burgers, fries and cokes) but at least it wasn't $30-something! And - the burger at Five Guys was the first one I've had in a long time, in a restaurant or at home (our hamburger skills are sub-par), that was not raw inside or burnt to a crisp or grossed me out with one of my crowns finding piece of gristle. It was perfect.

Next time it will probably suck, but I was happy.

Everybody at the Treefrog nest likes a little Johnny Rockets or Five Guys every once in a long while. But, I've got to say, for me they don't stack up to Flip Flops. Better burger, cheaper, and way closer to home. I'll spend my $ with the SoWal homies.

You are so right! The Gorgonzola burger at Flip-Flops is the best. Even the bun is good!

And, as I've said before, Greg is a hoot.

Not having eaten "in" at Flip Flops, I did forget about them , though my only experience thus far was a to-go order eaten 1,5 hours after my co-worker picked it up. I was able to revive my burger and it was still pretty good.

Maybe you shouldn't have ordered the 2 people. With inflation these days, people are getting expensive.

I'm glad Johnny Rockets is hidden in Grande Blvd, because with those prices, I don't need to go. Donut Hole is just down the street, and offers great burgers, fries and shakes, for a heck of lot less money. A burger with fries is only $6.75. You got hosed!

SJ, thanks for reminding us about the Donut Hole burger. Very good, indeed!

    Flip Flops Is Affordable!

Thanks for the good references guys! We try to offer a good fresh burger at a good price at Flip-Flops. Two people can order each a burger, fry and drink for an even $9.00, two people can easily eat for $18.00, throw in a real ice cream and whole milk milk-shake and you are at about $23.00 total.

    Hope to see you!
