It was a blast. The media got invited to take part in a concealed live fire course this morning along with the WCSO. I hit every target except one where I was down on my belly with my left arm by my side and trying to shoot up around a corner one handed. I got a touch of Glock burn on my nose from that one

It was actually a really cool course. They were teaching us how to conceal yourself during a gunfight and shoot back and not get shot.
Hiding behind a mail box was interesting but I just kept thinking,"Don't shoot the fire hydrant cause it's gonna ricochet and kill ya."

Many years ago I worked as a dispatcher/jailor and one of the best training weeks was "jail school" where we learned some weapons handling, self-defense, searches and so forth...it was a lot of fun. Good for you! Is this related to a story you're on or was it a personal choice?
I see the answer to my question. I hit the reply button about an hour ago and never got finished until now. Sorry!Last edited by sunspotbaby; 05-02-2008 at 02:06 PM.

I didn't know I was gonna get to play when I showed up this morning and I didn't know I had my picture taken till I started to leave the office.

Friday full of surprises.
The gun is heaver than it looks. I had problems holding it steady with one hand. Sgt.Casavant pictured with me let me use his gun and said it was a Glock 40 caliber.
I wore..........

Oh, so now I get the story! Cool. I heard chatter about the concealment class on the radio this morning, didn't realize it was also a media event. Several deputies responded that they were attending, sounded like they were pretty excited to be going.
I'm waiting for the Tactical Home Defense course to be offered to the public, sounds like fun. The firearms training is one thing the sheriff has done for Walton County residents that has gotten very little publicity."Eloquence is the essential thing in a speech, not information." - Mark Twain

So true and it's one of the things they are getting very right. They are offering that course this month and I am going to cover it.
I think the deputies did enjoy it and it was a good team building experience. These guys are getting double the amount of required hours for continuing training for the last few years and it's a good thing. I like the way Sgt. Casavant handles it as well. He's tough but has a great sense of humor. Two things I like in an instructor.

...I think BB is the lady that writes all those things on cocktail napkins....or maybe she just buys them all.
