Re: Tanning Will Cause Cancer
Thank you so much.
As for the rest of this thread, lots of good info. Love, love, love the tinted moisturizers. Also love Clinique self-tanner for my legs (not so great for the face.) Completely agree with hnooe2000 on the moderation comment. LMAO at Nohall and DD! And Steelemama, if it makes you happy and you can live with the potential risk, by all means renew for another month. (But Skunky and SJ have really made me think twice about ever using a tanning bed again.)

Re: Tanning Will Cause Cancer
omg, I'm dying.

I've grown accustomed to my white fat and try like hail to keep it so. would like to have some muscle tone one day though.
I don't think the tan is nearly as "desired" by people these days. when I see a super tanned person, it isn't all that attractive, imo. some color looks great. very tanned - well, just unattractive on several levels is all I can say.
this is what I've learned after all these years, and I so wish I had learned it when I was in my twenties!
1. wear the appropriate moisturizers containing sunscreen for face and body all year long, even if its cloudy and raining. just do it.
2. when on the beach find shade, sit under umbrella, and enjoy short amounts of time in full sun.
3. wear a hat.
4. go to the beach in early morning or late afternoon/early evening to enjoy in comfort, away from the most extreme heat/sun.
5. teach my kid that sunburns are to be avoided, and that his skin is the largest organ of his body - protect it from permanent damage.
I had nieces and nephews visiting this spring and one very fair 13 year old nephew had a terrible sunburn after forgetting to apply sunscreen to his face that day. it was cool outside, he was even wearing a shirt. I was furious with his parents and it feels almost like child abuse since we know so much better now. yes, he's old enough to care for his own skin - every teen should know better. many are still in the dark.Last edited by Teresa; 04-11-2008 at 11:36 AM.

Re: Tanning Will Cause Cancer
well you gotta have funn, now don't ya. hey, if people like to bake in the sun the same way we like to drink and smoke, wail I say they oughta do it and enjoy! and maybe they are doing it all at once, they way we used to do it.
but for some reason, I just don't like baking in the sun anymore. not funn at all. so, its easy for me to adopt a healthy skin routine. but I'm not doing so good on the other health choices.

Re: Tanning Will Cause Cancer
We didn't care about what we were going to look like in 25-30 years now did we? I just knew I looked HOT with a good tan.
My favorite thing to do was lay out in the sun. I still like to tan but I do use sunscreen. 30SPF at the beach and at least a 15 here. You know after you turn 40 it seems like every year you notice something new happening to you. This year for me (43) it's my arms and my hands. More freckles or age spots and the skin is not as firm as it used to be. And then I have 2 age/sun spots near my neckline. Does it keep going downhill from here?

Re: Tanning Will Cause Cancer
Lemon juice in the hair & Crisco or baby oil to tan faster by the pool in the backyard. Tried the SunIn stuff, but my hair turned GREEN from chlorine reacting to it, ended up with a really short hair cut.
I pretty much didn't tan except for a few times in my 20's & now in my mid 30's, I'm trying to learn to use sunscreen because I don't want wrinkles yet!You need not think alike to love alike.

.
You want answers, do you want answers? so does he baby, Alex Jones Monday-Friday from 11:00-3:00 and on Sunday 4:00-6:00. I listen to him every weekday and got to say he has some great information on his sites. In fact I am listening to him right now.
As far as tanning goes, I just go to the beach."When you shoot an arrow of truth, dip its point in honey”
