Re: Cafe Thirty-A
Gypsea and I went during off season. Different menu, but the food was delicious. I think we had chicken topped with pistachio nuts, and bread pudding for dessert. I was supposed to go back with MAN-go one October, but got an invitation for dinner by an Italian we couldn't turn down.

Re: Cafe Thirty-A
Love the martini menu... and although it's been over a year ago, I had some crab cakes there that were THE BEST I've ever had anywhere
. FULL of crab & no filler. Don't know if they still have them on the menu?

Re: Cafe Thirty-A
Family and I LOVE LOVE LOVE 30-A and make it a destination everytime we are in area. We happened upon 30-A in 1999 after driving to PCB to eat at Capt Anderson's (is that right?) and I refused to eat there after seeing the gazillion tour buses outside and the 3-hour wait!
So.....we turned around headed back to SGB and got to 30-A and my mom said let's stop here and check it out - she says best decision she ever made. Can't say enough - filet is awesome, crab cakes to die for, service to die for and the BEST gin and tonic on the gulf - hands down.
If you have not eaten at 30-A you must go. Yes it is pricey but for the service and quality of food you can't go wrong.
30-A

Re: Cafe Thirty-A
Favorite dishes:
Arugula salad with shaved pecorino, toasted pine nuts, and lemon/garlic vinaigrette
Pan-seared, Asian stir-fry with wasabi and infused oils
Wood-oven-roasted Alaskan king salmon with celeriac purée, caramelized peaches and onions, and chipotle/pinot noir reduction
Grilled filet mignon with smoked gouda and roasted corn-mashed potatoes, asparagus, and smoked tomato demi-glaze
Favorite story:
One night I decided to try a down-and-dirty martini. I had never had a martini. You know how Café Thirty-A serves them in pitchers? Well, I finished the pitcher, and after I finished my salad, it hit me. I had a glass of wine with my entrée, but I was having trouble remembering how to use a fork.
Hubby noticed it. I told him that he was going to have to help me get out of the restaurant without embarrassing myself. Once we got home, we had to get past daughter and BF hopefully without them noticing how inebriated I was. I managed as smoothly as possible to climb the stairs to the bedroom. Daughter asked, "What's wrong with Mommy?" Hubby said, "She's really tired."
I had on really tight leather pants and boots. I was trying to undress and couldn't pull off the boots or the pants. Thankfully, hubby came up to check on me and helped me get dressed for bed.
Haven't had a martini since. Hubby always teases me about that night.

Re: Cafe Thirty-A
It's my favorite place and we always feel at home there. Lori or Jim usually have my drink made before I sit down. It's wonderful!

Re: Cafe Thirty-A
OK toots, I am not sure about the description of the sides. Mashed with corn or somthing. As soon as they said it was topped with some sort of butter, I went all Homer Simson and heard nothing else
All I know is the butter was gooooood!

Re: Cafe Thirty-A
I've never been - but between that filet and the martinis, it'll be at the top of my list next visit to Sowal.

Re: Cafe Thirty-A
Re. Cafe Thirty-A: While there have been some questionable reports of late, I must say that, IMO, it's the most consistently-good place in the area. I've never had a bad meal there and the service is always top-notch. They make an arugula (sp?) salad that is outstanding. Good bartenders, too.
We'll be down in May for our 10th anniversary and I would imagine that's where we'll go to eat and celebrate.

Re: Cafe Thirty-A
I had my first chocolate martini ever one spring break a few years ago at Cafe Thirty-A. I still remember the way it tastes!
Dinner is good, service is as well, and I love the way the restaurant is decorated. And it's extra nice that it's within walking distance for us!

Re: Cafe Thirty-A
1) I used to always be there on Tuesday when I was living down there and never missed it. Now when I am there on Tuesday I don't miss it. The bar menu is fabulous, grayt food and price.
2) Filet is grayt! I care about the 'tinis!!!! If it wasn't for the olives in my martinis, I'd starve to death!

Re: Cafe Thirty-A
BTW we
Cafe Thirty-A.
Sorry -- my semicolon/colon key doesn't work because my long fingernails have destroyed my keyboard -- waiting for a new keyboard from Dell -- to do an accent aigu takes an ampersand followed by a # sign followed by 233 followed by a semicolon (the key that keeps falling off).
