Fate of Wheel House?
Does anyone know anything about whether the Wheel House will reopen, sell the property, or what?

Such a shame. While the food was pretty much horrible, the place was an institution. Horrible we lost both Nick's and the Wheelhouse to fires.

They had a sale of the "wall art" a couple of weeks ago on a Saturday so we think they are definitely not going to reopen.

I sure do hate to hear this. It was so nice to have it right across the street from the Seagrove Villas. We ate breakfast there about 2 times a week while we were there. The employees were always so nice. Perhaps someone will open another restaurant there!!!

The Wheelhouse and the adjoining property behind the restaurant is for sale. Probably will build more condo's..

Sorry to hear about the wall art sale, that sounds kind of definitive. I'd been hoping for "waiting on an insurance settlement" or something else similarly encouraging, and taking some hope that I haven't seen a real estate agent's sign out front. Oh well...

For the Wheelhouse? Not a bad deal for the owners if they get anywhere near that amount! I imagine they also got a pretty good insurance settlement. I can't rememeber...did they ever determine the cause of that fire?

Exactly.

Yes we will too. Although the food was not great by any stretch, they did a decent job with the "country breakfast" (eggs, pancakes, and such) but it was going there on the morning of the 4th of July parade to eat breakfast and then to stand out in front to watch the parade and catch the beads and the candy that we will miss. Our kids lived for that every year when we went to Seagrove. Sad that that will not continue as a tradition for us (and others).

It made the paper, we saw it in front of the Wheelhouse, and I think I have it on video. I think they also did it in Seaside on stage at the 4th celebration. Too funny.
