How about top things to do on a rainy day
Since the weather reports predict rain for a few days (well, more than a few) next week, let's see if we can get some ideas for top things to do on a rainy day. I have some ideas, but I'd like ideas for active things to do, especially for children and teenagers.
Here's what I can think of:
1. Go to movies
2. Eat out
3. Stay inside and read a book or watch a dvd/movie or play games or do puzzles
4. Maybe go to shell island and look for shells since there won't be many people in the rain (is that a good trip and are there really lots of shells -- any other places for nice shelling nearby?)
5. Go fishing in the rain if it's not too bad
6. Shop
Thanks!Paula

Sit in the hot tub...it's kind of a weird feeling. At least you're outdoors & you're wet anyway:-P

Re: How about top things to do on a rainy day
Great topic Paula! We've had to get creative with this before.
1. Movies was good but for Pete's Sake don't get there late. Been there did that and every movie (even the bad ones) was sold out.
2. Go out and explore the beach. The kids always find some strange stuff.
3. Shop... just make sure you bring your Game Boys or you'll be
4. Sit in the hot tub. That was fun for a while
5. How about bowling? Is there a bowling alley anywhere close?

My favorite things to do on a rainy day at Grayton:
Sit on Pinkstons pier and just watch the lake.
Walk on the beach.....unless its lightening, this is a very fun adventure.
(or unless you are about 8 with 2 of your friends that have never been to the beach, and you think that they really need to see the magnolia caves, it starts storning, you loose your way, and its nighttime before you discover where you are, get home only to be confronted by an even worse storm----your dad!!!!)
By the way, are the magnolia caves still there?

Yes but if we don't keep them a secret they may not be there long.

Re: How about top things to do on a rainy day
Not right now. Its still a work in progress. I actually just got off the phone with a guy here in Nashville who's selling me a roll cage next weekend. Ill probably have some pics from my autocross race next Sunday that I can post though! It really stinks having expensive dreams. Anyone want to sponsor me? All I need is money for tires and maintenance!

Re: How about top things to do on a rainy day
The car is an 1984 Volkswagen GTI that I'm preparing for SCCA ITB class club racing. Ill be racing at Road Atlanta and Memphis Motorsports park. None of this will take place till this fall or next spring though due to cash flow. My objective for this year is to win my class in SCCA regional autocross. Yes, that would be a giant sea of cones set up like a road course with fastest lap time winning their class.

As for the logo for my hood, I dont care what if is as long as I get cash for my car! I've picked up one sponsor so far, an independant record label here in Nashville called Fictitious Records. That'll get me my tires for the season.
Kurt,
$20 will cover one entry fee for me this season. Send me a tshirt and a bumper sticker and Ill put it on my car. I wear a large and prefer white, black or red shirts.
Now that I think of it, give me a place to sleep in Grayton for 3 days and Ill put the sticker on my car! I havent been able to make it down there in about 2 years and I'm beginning to go nuts! I can be there in 6 hours...
Pictures will follow soon!!!Last edited by Mike B.; 02-23-2005 at 01:28 PM.

Surfing and Kayaking. You get the best waves when theres a storm rolling through and, best of all, there's hardly any people.
Ooops. I shouldn'a said that. I should not have said that.

Re: How about top things to do on a rainy day
That little yellow house we stay in across from the Red Bar (I wish I knew if it had a name so I could stop calling it the little yellow house across from the Red Bar), anyway, it has an AWESOME screened in porch with white rockers. That is my favorite place to be in Grayton, raining or not. OF course I enjoy my morning mimosas there before the little one MUST go to the lake/beach. He thinks the glowing fish in the surf are the coolest things ever. We don't have those on Texas beaches, but believe me, we have to check every time we're there.
Other than that, I am a hot tub girl in the rain, with no lightning, and drinks are good anytime rain or shine.

Re: How about top things to do on a rainy day
There's a sign on it by the front door that has the name of the family who built it, but it is the MOM's family of my friend, so it has a different name than the people we rent it from. We call it the Muir house, because that's who rents it to us.

Re: How about top things to do on a rainy day
We had some good storms here Tuesday night and me and one of the housemates drank home brewed beer and wine and watched pro bull riding on TV and judged the riders on quality of their fall off of the bull. That was a really fun rain activity!

We made fun of everything. They wear padded vests now and some had on full helmets. What kind of man rides a bull with training wheels? We were basically hoping to see carnage. :)

I think I'd try it once. It would be quite a rush! I want to go skydiving also. It's on my list of things to do that can kill me.
