Re: Potterheads Unite....
Someone can start a new thread with pot(terhead) info hidden, like Brownies-Pot(ter) secrets revealed. Discuss openly who dies and how it's impacted you. Attach a warning that it's a "gateway" thread so no one accidently discovers any spoilers they don't want to know.

Re: Potterheads Unite....
I could never rip a book in half! Building arm muscle instead!
Sadly I can answer all those questions due to my ability to remember only arcane and useless knowledge! I usually go by the latin roots to figure out the spells - she does a great job of naming them! I love that the worst spell, the one that kills people sounds like abbracadabra! Rowling is supposedly going to write an encyclopedia next w/ all that info for you!

Re: Potterheads Unite....
Actually, trivia is one of my talents, too. I just have a book like that for The Chronicles of Narnia, and I love reading through it. (I'm the kid who reads the atlas and the encyclopedia and Dad's old yearbooks and graveyard etchings and census records for fun...)
I noticed that about the abracadabra death spell, too. I just didn't quite get the Sectumsempra one until I just now googled it. Latin again...I guess that a beautiful index book isn't necessary as long as there's Wikipedia.
On a related note, my glasses disappeared in the middle of the night. I suspect Nargols are behind it.Life doesn't get any better than this.

Re: Potterheads Unite....
I can finally read this post! I finished the book last night, but was afraid I might see a "spoiler" in this thread so I avoided it until I finished--really hard to do!
I, too, waited to get the book last Friday for the experience. It's the last one, so why not? I don't get into all of the theories and such, I just really like the stories. JK does such an awesome job of telling the story. Book 7 by far surpasses all of the others. I can't believe how much happens right off the bat. I'm sure I'll have to give it another read just to make sure I "get" it all.

Re: Potterheads Unite....
I am surprised at how much I liked book 7! I fully expected to get to the end and think "well, that S**ks!" but it was really good. Still don't see how anyone can read one of the books or see one of the movies without having touched on the ones that went before. I have read all of them and I still get confused- too many hard names!

Re: Potterheads Unite....
Rowling was on the "Today" show yesterday, and Meredith even asked her about writing an index. Rowling said that she wanted to, but not right now. She's too tired.
She also said that she was going to keep writing, but not about Harry. Said she couldn't imagine not writing. I was glad to hear that.Life doesn't get any better than this.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I finally finshed the book last night. It consumed me, haunted me, to pick it up and read.
SOOOOOOOOO after a 4 hour reading stretch I was finished. All I have to say is Rowling is a wonderful writer. Great to the end. I am content.
Re: Potterheads Unite....
Halfway through...I have to keep making myself slow down and savor it. I have already cried a few times.
Many of my friends are immediately re-reading it- anybody else doing this?
Re: Potterheads Unite....
Wow- just finished it. I am wiped out. Rowling did an amazing job of weaving 7 years of characters, stories, details, and emotions into the perfect finish.
Does anybody have a remedy for post-Potter sadness?
Harry "grew up" with my family. I have empty nest syndrome this morning.
Re: Potterheads Unite....
OK, I think enuff time has passed that it would be safe to start a thread for Potterheads who have finished book 7.
I finished the book the Wednesday after it came out. I was sitting at Red Lobster reading the last few chapters having a celebratory dinner, but couldn't finish reading it in the restaurant as I started crying.
The waiter asked me if I was alright, and I pointed to the book. He said he understood, he finished it the night before. Said it would be best if I finished the rest out in my car.
I paid for my meal tried to finish it in the car, but the restaurant was closing, people were leaving, and giving me strange looks like I was a stalker hanging out in the parking lot.
So I went across the street to Books-a-Million, where I bought the book, to finish-kinda like going full circle.
Let me just say this about the book without spoiling anything.
Now that we know how it ends, I can't wait to go back and reread the whole series.
Now that we know what is going on behind the scenes and what the end result will be, and how each entity is used to get to that end- then the whole story goes from being a simple kid's adventure to a terrifying Steven King meets Anne Rice thriller. There is nothing sweet and innocent about the series now that we know the truth.
As for the Epilogue. Go to Mugglenet.com.
I hated it till I found out the intent was to be a fuzzy, dreamlike teaser, just giving hints to the future. Much more is to come.
As JKR said, "Never say never....."
...they are getting rather large, no? Someone asked this question and maybe they are doing it somewhere..."why do they advertise they found these farms, shouldn't they try and monitor them to see who shows up for the harvest?"
