Volunteers are needed to assist UF graduate student, Josiah Raymer plant 1500 dune plants on the Eglin Public beach area on Okaloosa Island. This is the research component of the demonstration project we planted on Navarre Beach in July 2004. We will plant 1500 plants, species include: Uniola paniculata (Sea Oats), Iva imbricata (sea coast marsh elder), Panicum amarum (bitter panicum), and Schizachyrium maritimum (Gulf Coast Blue stem).
When: Saturday and Sunday, Jan. 29-30, 2005, 9 am
Where: Eglin Public Beach Area, East of Ft. Walton Beach, on Okaloosa Island
Where to meet: 9:00 am, Beasley Park parking lot (Beasley Park is the last park east of the Gulfairium on Okaloosa Island
What to bring: Shoes, gloves, hat, sunscreen, water, snacks, jacket if it is chilly, a hand shovel if you have one and a friend!
