I love the little cottages in Grayton Beach. I love the block bunkers. I love the Washaway and gulf front homes.
But I like the lake houses the best. Remember Patrone's? Owner Gene Florence (RIP) had a little empire with a petting zoo with chickens and goats and hogs. Many a great time was had under the palapa on the lake. Some jokingly called it The Grayton Beach Country Club. For a time there were funky fun artists and great music and bugers and BBQ. But that story is for another time.
Gene had a fairly modest home on the lake with great views. I shot photos of his house in 2002 when he sold it, and it has changed hands a couple of times since then with massive and expen$ive renovations and additions.
It's down almost $500,000 now to $2,795,000. Everything is premium but it still has the feel of a properly aged, open air South Pacific home.
