I have no idea, but I seem to recall other colors on other similar message boards. Maybe we don't have enough reps to get to the different colors. Minnie seems to know much about the new stuff on the boards. Maybe she can be of useful help. "All I want to do is have some funn."

Points are awarded for length of time you have been a member and number of posts you have, as well as others giving you rep. The more rep you have the more your rep counts when you give or take it.

ohhhhhh, i was wondering how come people who have fewer than 500 posts have more green chicklets than me. I guess the people who give me rep are not very well repped....

So, for instance. if I make the high chicklet count members mad then they could bad rep me and I would be no longer????? Can just a few people make a decision to take someone off the board????

girl, let me see if I can explain.

Today, you have 10 people who rep, lets say totaling 100 rep points, averaging 10pts per person. One additional person reps you, but that person has low rep, thus giving you only 2 rep points. Your new total of points equals 102, and your average points per rep (dividing by 11 people), would now be lower, at 9.27.

Not exactly. Kurt is King, and there are four or five others with more points than me. Also, if you repped me, my overall points would increase, not decrease. The only thing which might decrease would be that self-calculated average which you mention, and that has nothing to do with anything.

Ok, when you start out, the administrator determines the initial Rep Count by the number of posts you had or some other method, only Kurt can answer that question.

Once you get started, then you get a certain amount of reputation points based on who is giving the rep. The more reputation you have which is shown by how many green squares or chicklets you have the higher your power.

Not sure how it is set on this forum as I have not done the math; but each green square represents a certain amount of Rep power. If for instance each green square represents 5 points then someone with 4 squares would give you 20 rep points every time they repped you.

Someone with only one square would give 5 points for each rep. If you give negative rep, the same points are deducted.

Its purpose is to hopefully give users an idea of how respected, knowledgeable, helpful, gracious, etc., a person is. It is a system in which you rate your peers. It is a system that, hopefully, will make you think twice about your posts.

Of course with all things, that are subjective, it can be abused if not used with discretion.

In my ten years of Net forum usage and moderating on other forums, I have seen it used and well received and I have seen it rip a forum apart when groups fragment into cliques that abuse the system.
