Don't rely on us as your source for poisonous mushrooms. There are thousands of varieties of mushrooms and many are not only poisonous, but also deadly.

DITTO! My dh got very sick pretending to be Euell Gibbons! Seriously, he had a book and the shroom passed every test. But alas, it made him sick as a dog ON C'MAS EVE! I remember him standing in kitchen cooking them with spinach asking if I wanted any. I was like YOU CRAZY MAN - uh NO!
So, enjoy looking but no touchy or tasty!

PS He was lucky I might add that all it did was make him sick.

Oh heck no. I would never eat them! WOW, poor guy. I specifically pick them to throw them away from my angel. But maybe I ought to wear gloves. THANK YOU PEOPLE. Makes a cool psychedelic image though... and my daughters name is Alice. Makes me think of both Alice in Wonderland and Grace Slick.

We grew up eating morels. Not likely to be in your yard though.

I'm not positive, but you should be more careful than wearing gloves if picking the deadly varietals. I believe you can get the toxins in you from breathing in the spores, which are disturbed when you collect them.

Illinois - Soaked overnight in saltwater to get the bugs out. 
Then dipped in egg batter and coated with corn meal to be fried for breakfast. We always wanted more! I prefered the smaller ones...

Only wild ones that I know to be safe are the morels, oh,so good. Find those in early spring about the time pear trees are blooming. Find them out in wooded areas.
