SWCC presents free film of sea turtle's journey - 6/25/09

A breathtaking film of a sea turtle's 9,000-mile journey to lay her eggs on the beach where she was hatched will be presented by the South Walton Community Council at its public forum, June 25, 7 pm, at the Coastal Branch Library.
Instinct was the only guide for the 30-year-old turtle on one of the longest journeys undertaken by any animal on land or sea. From the west coast of Mexico to a small stretch of beach in Japan, the turtle encounters predators, typhoons and fishing nets, but never gives up.
The colorful underwater photography includes whales, sharks and some weird sea life. The film is appropriate for children and adults.
This program is one of a series of monthly forums produced by the SWCC to educate the community on topics such as the environment, local government and energy resources. For more information call Ella Caro, 231-6038

me too; but can't make it that day and would love to have my family see it, but they will be away...can it be shown a second time?

Maybe we can show it as a "fund raiser" for keeping the beaches clean, or for legal fees for those who keep the beaches clean...whichever comes first!

I have this show recorded and have watched it twice already. It was on PBS. Here's a preview. WELL WORTH SEEING and as Kurt said, "breathtaking."
